Server Integrity?????

+1, Alle, but sometimes things like this are just hard to foresee when there's so much on their plate at once. As long as they are making efforts to correct it--and I believe they are--there shouldn't be any long-term problems.

You're right. I do believe they are taking the correct steps towards addressing the issue. Just wish they had taken the preventative measures to have prevented it altogether. I guess that's how you grow though. Learn from your mistakes.

Im to lazy to check if this is a repost, but it could be that they don't have a fix yet and are not announcing to the public exactly what un-fixed exploits exist (the concept of zero day exploit)

or it could be aliens

Through the help of our newest team member, Auya, we were able to discover a number of characters that were created with the sole purpose of selling the characters for real life money. To this point, we have identified and banned 38 characters

literally 38 characters

and you conspiracy nutjobs thought this was some widespread issue with hundreds / thousands of "hacked" characters, claiming it would destroy the server

fucking kek

There is no need to quit the server over this. There is no solid evidence that the GMs are selling gear and accounts that got gear through hacking will be weeded out.

I would just like to remind people that characters that were illegally created/obtained are still being discovered. It is up to you as a player to report any and all suspicious behavior. Team work can go a long way.

Let us be kind to one another on these forums as we discuss past and current happenings. There is always a time and place for arguing, that would either be Barrens chat or in the Gurubashi Arena.

What about the simple fact that if a player hadn't caught thins then the devs themselves would just never know... Personally i think it should be the other way around....the devs catch this stuff and as a consequence we, as players, never hear about it.

Like bug reports. The devs should be doing all the info gathering on that too. They should be informing us about gameplay bugs, not the other way around.

We spend more time logged into the game than they are able to. It would stand to reason that we, the players, would be the first to notice something buggy with the gameplay, or fishy with another player. Be thankful that someone caught it, reported it, and that the staff took action swiftly.

But, seriously....    have they no anti-cheat software here, at all?

Creating algorhytms to discover these things, wouldn't be that hard.  That's how anti-cheat software works, in the first place.   Comparing normal to the different.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've been scanning the posts and announcement about this. I don't go to reddit, that's a waste of time. But, wasnt the real core of the issue tha fact that someone hacked the database and gained access to GM mode basically?

Again, I haven't been obsessing over the whole ordeal. But, that's what I got from the jumbled info that has been posted between nerd raging on the forums.

Its totally not up to the playerbase to find these spawned characters with gm command. I'm glad some players found it and that now we know that the server was not totally purged during the day long maintenance.

Think about it tho, what about the gold and boes put in circulation by those hackers, do you really think its all gone? The playerbase have nothing to work with to find these.

That's true. What we don't know though is to what extent the player in question was able to cover their tracks. It may not have been blatantly obvious to the staff what was going on.

As far as the items goes, I'm not sure. I guess we have to lean on the staff for that. There is nothing that we can do about that either way. It's out of our hands.

I doubt that the damage done from the item spawning was that extensive though. They obviously wouldn't have wanted to play there hand too strong. But, then again, maybe.

Best move is to be suspicious of everyone and any post any member of the staff makes. :)

agree. those "hackers" could just have put their epics/legendaries on the bank and take 1 out every 3 days so it does not look suspicios.

What causes these problems is simply money. Even if this is free to play there are always people who try get monetary benefits from it like goldsellers and these hackers try to sell characters. Unfortunately this just basic human behaviour which never changes. Even those of us with strong integrity, perseverance and moral are prone to greed in some extent. If someone offers you a million euros/dollars for free most of us would take that sum and this sum would probably also change our high principles/moral for worse and corrupt us trough greed. Here on our precious private servers goldsellers and some hackers are corrupted by this monetary greed. In a society model without money we probably wouldn't have these kinds of problems.

If these things are to weaken Elysium project (by Blizzard or some other party) I can see the intelligent means behind it -> handful of people turn masses against each other with ease and just enjoy watching the fight. E.g. if someday you see yourself in the news that you allegedly did some crime that you didn't do in reality people in general tend to believe the news without presented evidence not you and after that you will be "marked" as a criminal under public eye. Multinational companies can and will do anything possible to secure their businesses. Be it be some kind of corruption amongst Elysium and/or Nostalrius staffs is possible. This to be greedy corruption of some parties is likely.

Me myself would like to believe to Elysium(/Nostalrius) staffs truthfulness and genuine passion for this game without money thoughts on the backround because otherwise there is just no hope left for us with a passion for this game. But I'm not going to judge any party before there are proven facts on the table to enable fair examination of these things and claims. Though I understand that these happenings raise severe uproars amongst community. I hope for the best and try not to fear the worst because for the 1st time in 9 years I enjoy playing WoW.

Dude you're completely clueless :D, people are not mad because some people are not being banned.. People are mad because 1. they havent addressed this issue at all!, 2. they probably dont plan on fixxing it meaning that these guys with the hack or cheat or w/e will keep making new chars and doing the same thing and 3. in the 1 year + of nost , nothing close to this ever happened... THATS why people are mad bro

1. Tru

2. I reckon they will fix it, why wouldnt they? Memelluminati.

3. Nost was a giant, for a private server. But the REAL media attention only started AFTER it was shut down(rather shut itself down). The gigantic feud between retail and the private server community grew exponentially the last 6 months. In turn this insane amount of media coverage also attracted a ton of people to the servers. Both ill and good willed people. With both growth in popularity and being controversial the likelyhood of ill willed people also grows. Making it more likely(probable)for these kind of things to happen. Just see how much news oulets and mmo specific websites covered vanilla wow in the time sibce ely/nost's rerelease.

i'm not saying it shouldnt have been prevented, but stuff like this CAN happen. Especially considering there isn't an insanely large team behind Elysium and her four(!) realms(aka resources ARE limited). Where as nost took care of one server for a large oart of its lifespan, untill pve got released, and the Elysium team has to deal with two from the get go, shortly followed by two more.  My guess is that resources are stretched atm

Tl;dr - media coverage bige, retailVSvanilla feud, ill willed people
