Exploring Closed Zones

Recommended Posts

Hey

This is more like a question to the staff. Can I be banned for exploring zones such as Quel'Thalas, Mount Hyjal, Old Outland or Old Ironforge? I remember exploring them on retail, never got any ban or something.
It was always quite a fun for me to check them ^^ Wonder if there are any other players who liked it as well. Especially Quel'Thalas and Old Outland.

Personally I don't think that you should go to a closed zone, since it's closed for a reason. Not sure if it's bannable on Elysium, but I remember that you would get teleported to one of the cities if you got caught going to a restricted place on retail.

These zones were closed because they were not finished. Blizzard planned a lot more, but finally decided to do not release some stuff on game original release. Such as Hellfire Penninsula, which originally was supposed to be 55-60 zone from what I've heard. A lot of things were not released and it was safer and easier to leave them be instead of removing them. Nothing harmfull in exploring them.

Wait, theres a legit wait to get to old outland? Awesome!

As far as getting banned, if it's done legitimately you shouldn't get banned. But maybe the antihack system will accidentally pick you up if you are in weird zones, not sure.

Depends if he is talking about the deadmine's "outland", or the real old outland.

Confirmation from GM would be good but I've heard that it is not against the rules to explore areas that are able to be gotten to by legitimate means. On old nost I did a ton of exploration and didn't get any warnings whatsoever. Now maybe it was unnoticed, I am not sure.

This is a tricky topic. Technically, if you're exploring and not cheating in any way to help you explore, there shouldn't be an issue. However, if a GM sees you somewhere you shouldn't be able to get to, there is potential that the GM will sanction your account because we can't confirm whether or not you got there legitimately.

I would advise against exploring in areas that could potentially get you into trouble - even if you're just exploring. It's very unlikely you'll "accidentally" fall into one of these areas. Best bet is to stick to the regular maps.

Did exploration on a lot of different servers, mostly retail where I still has a character on GM Island, and never got any ban / warning. There is very little chance to get "caught" exploring. Unless of course there is some special NPC/Vendor in those places, as I have seen on some private servers.

Video of how to wall jump there? In tbc you could levitate.

Good luck wall jumping in the boat room. Especially after the nerf.

You need to be a mage. You have to blink through walls, then jump into invisible water and swim up. You know the rest.

As long as exploration does not involve hacking/cheating and does not provide advantage in PvE or PvP, it is allowed.

But what if you go somewhere where you could have an advantage in pvp but decide not to use it?

That's punishable. We cannot know whether you were just biding your time or not. Unfortunately I cannot read minds yet.

I know this server is Blizz like but I still think you guys should add some more level 60 farming areas in some of the unused locations. This might help with some over the over population and lack of quality non dungeon 60 farming spots. Just throw in some level 60-62 elite elementals and call it a day.

Not talking about somewhere in a battleground, but atop of a building in an enemy city.

Hell no. This server shouldn't be custom server.
