The attacks were so severe that they literally forced the server down for some time (weeks) until they bought new hardware AND changed provider. That's not to say that I am not in favour of banning Chinese VPN's as most of the spammers, cheaters, botters, gold-sellers, BG won traders, honor farmers, and "Professional WoW players" come from the PRC, because I am actually strongly in favour of doing so.
