Elysium's Fight Against Hacking Software!

Greetings,

We wanted to share with you some recent statistics on our proactive fight against hackers and users of hacking software.

Since Elysium’s launch on December 17th, 2016 we have detected, investigated, and banned 2794 accounts for using hack related software.

Our team is committed to not only removing these morally corrupt players, but we are also developing new methods of detection. We will have new adjustments to our current detection system to be implemented in the next few days.

This is of great concern to our development team, and is one of the highest priorities. We are working diligently every day to counter these exploits.

Good news to hear! 

Just curious, are the items rolled back or removed? These kind of numbers could be devastating to the economy if the items stay in circulation, even if the accounts are banned.

Great news ! Every others private servers have hackers and exploiters, and the gms and players don't even realise it. Props for Elysium !

But I'm curious, did you really find and delete hacker's banks on their multiple accounts, with 3000 black lotus, and more ? Do you have the tools to track every items that they bought and trade with someone else ? I hope so.

There are three main reasons for this, hacking is not one of them.

1. New servers will drive the sado-masochistic players to them because they enjoy the pain of re-lvling up the 10th time.

2. People already having BiS gear on Anathema and waiting for AQ.

3. Chinese VPN ban.

Hello, both of you are wrong.

There are DEFINITELY mistakes being made with permabans, I used to be one of the persons who'd say the same stuff like you, if you get banned you more than likely did something wrong.

Now here I can confirm that is NOT the case at all. I got permabanned for "exploiting" which I only could find out after having an in-game ticket up for ~48 hours.

I have NEVER exploited or abused anything, I love this game, I love my friends on this server, I DO NOT NEED TO BUY GOLD/ ABUSE/ EXPLOIT as I am completely self-sufficient regarding money-making, consumables and whatnot. If I need MORE money than I just stand in Orgrimmar and do some enchanting.

Again, at the cost of looking like I'm stuck on repeat, I did not exploit anything... (Yes, I realise just about anyone that gets banned initially claims innocence.)

So you must understand that reading this post, seeing how Elysium is patting themselves on the back for a "good job", is just pouring a bag of salt in the wound.

After 4-5 days I still don't know the exact reason of my ban. I have a lot of questions;

1) Does someone in the GM team hate me?

2) Why exactly was I banned?

3) Is there any reason for me to continue playing this server or will I get permabanned out of the blue once again?

4) Is there an automated banning system going crazy?

5) Why aren't there more people checking ban appeals seeing how they skyrocketed the last days from 2000 to 2700? (And the numbers are NOT going down at all)

6) Did I actually exploit something whilst I wasn't aware of it?

7) Do I make more posts about this happening to me and multiple other people on these forums, Reddit, whatever? (In the hopes of something being done about it.)

 

I'm truthfully sorry for writing this whole thing down, but this has been a VERY frustrating experience so far. Leaving people in the dark for this long is BRUTAL. I've been patient for quite a while now. I realise there's a buttload of appeals in queue right now but it's not something that cannot be fixed right..

I had nothing but praise about this project, I love the people playing here, I love this game, I would never have done anything to hurt the server.

And last of all, I'm not writing this in an attempt to get my appeal looked at before others, I'm writing this because this was legitimately painfull to read, combined with the people posting "goldbuyer hurr durr xd".

After that post I also feel the need to express my gratitude towards the Elysium team for what they have accomplished and have been able to offer so far. As I hadn't done that before. I fully realise this is a donation/ volunteer kind of project which means some things will take more time. You told us you'd transfer the database and you did that. You told us you'd merge the cores and you did that.

I appreciate what you're giving to people, the amount of days/ weeks/ months I've spent on this game/ server is ridiculous and I'd like to thank you for making that possible.

you also ban ppl that get hacked, like my self who was hacked, lost all my gold then hours later I was banned and my account closed! great job! no answer on my appeal either!

If Elysium's anti-cheat system is similar or the same as the Nostalrius one , NO ! It's mostly not automated excluding Wallclimbing/Speedhacking/Water walking etc etc. From my personal experience "Getting banned on Nost when the server started" The anti-cheat system reports to a Gamemaster who then reviews the report (since ofcourse the ACS can be wrong) and then locks you up. When i got banned the first time (For X,Y,Z abuse) wich ofcourse is totally my fault , a GM contacted me , informed me i was caught using illegal software and then i received the permaban. Most of the appeals here ARE FAKE. Sorry but i've personally lied through my teeth regarding ban appeals on other private servers , and i've recieved them... That is not good for the economy of ANY private server. And for the first time (when nost locked up my acc) i didn't feel bad i got caught. I just rolled a new toon and leveled it fairly. So to those guys who spam the forums with sentences of the type "PLS TELL ME WHY I GOT BANNED" , " I DIDNT DO ANYTHING" and "IM SWITCHING TO "insertgayservernamehere" SERVER" ... dood get a grip and level again.

"get a grip and lvevel again" lol we dont all have all the time in the world and getting a permaban for nothing you did not do and loose a lvl 60 on a server you used several weeks of your life to level is worng. if your gonna make a server that has a banning system you have to have system that can take up appeals and look at them again to see if things was done the way they should!

It's your fail. It was YOU who managed to get yourself hacked in the first place as you didn't have 2FA enabled, despite the System reminding you when in the live game every 5 minutes.

So, suck it up and L2FA.

The basic issue with stupid people is that they think they are smarter than everybody else, or to put it in a different way, they think that everyone else is stupid.

It is amusing that they think that they are smarter than a bunch of IT pros who set up and successfully run a project like this.

I agree with you on most of the appeals most likely being fake, and people who know they did something wrong should indeed suck it up and leave this project or start over.

That doesn't change the fact that I've been permanently banned without doing anything wrong, I still haven't gotten a reason (besides the very vague "exploiting"). I've been told my case is under investigation so I'm already happier than most of the people who have been waiting for a while without any reply at all. So basically what I'm trying to say is don't generalize, I'm not making any demands what-so-ever I just made a post to express myself, so for you to come in and say people who are asking for some clarity here "to get a grip" is a little over the top imo. I've played here since Nostalrius originally launched, never got into any trouble EVER and lost several chars with about 100+ days of /played and still have no idea why. That's a little brutal if you ask me.

Again, I'm not demanding anything here, just trying to clarify  that this is very frustrating.

Ah and i cant log in... Despite changing my password every week to something completely else.
