Tazinas 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 Hey, I started on this server 2 days ago and I'm currenlty level 16. I'm new to vanilla and this is the first server I play on. I'm following the Vanilla Guide / Joanas guide but I feel like I'm always lacking behind half a level ish. Should I just grind if I'm missing some experience? Should I go questing in zones which are not in the guide, e.g. silverpine forest to get a headstart and then continue with the guide? Thanks in advance, Taz~
SKSPlays 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I remember using that guide on Nost...and you have to adapt it somewhat. Its not perfect, just remember to do most quests in that area it suggests and if that starts getting a little sluggish to move onto the next and just forget the quests that are green.
Grette 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I've been using that guide as a helper too. There's a version that has BC quests in it which is fine until you get to Dustwallow. Only there did I find I had to go back to STV to bounce about to make up for the lack of those BC quests in Dustwallow.
futurehendrix 2 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 It is written that you are supposed to kill every mob which comes in your way, obviously thats a pain in the ass and thats why you might be lacking. otherwise thats a good guide, too, you can combine them http://www.wow-pro.com/leveling_guides/old_versions_0

Thanks in advance, Taz~ you should have fun and stop brainlessly following guides if you want to know where quests are, https://vanilla-twinhead.twinstar.cz/?quests=0.12 is a pretty good source Edited March 25, 2017 by Revo
Wrathran 4 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 If I was you I would throw away that guide. You are missing out on a pretty epic experience by using a guild when leveling in vanilla! Maybe when you do your second or third alt you could use a guide. Just my two cents.
mytchi3 1 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I would suggest the same as above. Get into town pick up all quests and go do them one by one. When there kill everything and explore a bit since mobs drop quest starting items sometimes. You will not go much faster with guide. When traveling kill everything it helps alot to not run out of quests and have to grind 1-2 levels at once since the grind is spaced out for running there and back to turn in quests.

I highly disagree with skipping green quests, especially if the OP always feels a level behind.
Robroy 2 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 I levelled my hunter on Nost without guides and I got to level 59 before I ran out of quests. The only grinding I did was for leatherworking. I didn't do any dungeons. For my fire mage, I've been following Jame's horde guide (The alliance version is Joanna) and it has been one grind the entire way. Every level you have to grind something, so it should be renamed as Jame's grind leveling guide. Areas such as Stonetalon are missed out even though it's a decent source of questing experiance. For my next alt, I'll go back to doing it my own way, which means a lot less grinding.
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 (edited) Don't use VanillaGuide, use an addon called "Questie". Instead of blindly following a guide, just let Questie show you which quests are available to you. (it points out questgivers on the map) Edited March 25, 2017 by gotmilk0112
Tazinas 0 Report post Posted March 25, 2017 Alright I stopped using this guide. I'm level 17 now and there are only quests lv 19-20+ left in the barrens. Should I try and complete these or should I go to another zone until I reach the proper level? Also, I tried Questie before and it turned out that it displayed the level of the quest inaccurately. It showed like 23ish but when I got there the mobs were at 16-17.

Yes, I already got it. And I'm not a retail baby. I quite like the way vanilla is so far yet the reason I started to play was to experience the old 40 man raids, 25 heroic later on etc especially Naxx 40 which comes 2018/09 if the timeline is accurate. Also, a more specific question about hunters. I leveld with a boar 10-13 and tried a cat after. But the cat can't hold aggro, so after I start attacking the mobs always start running towards me. Should I tame a boar again or should I kite with concussive shot / wing clip?

I think you forgot to teach growl on cat to hold aggro
Banezilla 2 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 Only skip grey quests. Do the quests that the guide skips, those quests usually need a group to complete and Joana is a loner speed runner. Get all the quests for dungeons and then run them. Have fun.
