Most Needed Class(es)?

Hi all. I played WoW back when it first released and had a great time playing both a priest and a warlock in the years afterwards. Now I have come here to re-experience some of the good old times of vanilla WoW.

Before creating a new character I wanted to ask what class(es) are most needed? Like, is there a lack of tanks or healers? From playing other MMO's it's usually those classes, which seem to be in need and DPS that is always an abundance of.

I honestly have no preference as to the role, be it tank/heal/dps, as the most important thing to me is rather being able to contribute to a group/raid and not just playing the same as everyone else. Any input would be appreciated.

edit: least played does not equal most needed. Druids are mostly useless and when you do need one you literally just need one

Tanks are needed on both sides. Alliance has a shit load of healers (Priest) leveling up at the moment. I started a dwarf priest and I see a lot of priest running around. Not enough tanks, though.

Try joining a raid(ing guild) as a tank.

Not a high demand for tanks in raiding.  There is in 5 mans though.  Priests are by far the most needed class from what I've seen followed by warlocks.  Rogues are least needed.

Not sure if he is asking about leveling wise or end game. 

Well Alliance you should have a influx of priest coming base on how many I see while leveling. But the real question is how many will actually stick around. I know I am planning on it. =)

Absolutely... just kinda solo.

Druids and warlocks are by far the fewest, and of those two, druids by a large margin. Mages are far too many. I have literally have had groups where all the dps was mages many times now. There's no shortage of rogues either. 

There's also not that many priests on the alliance side, altho you may see a lot of them running around at really low levels (because it's a bit of pain to level, like warrior except not as sexy).

Thanks for all the replies and useful insight. I think I'll roll a warlock for now and see how that goes. Warrior is tempting as I honestly cannot see myself going for a raiding guild so 5-mans is just fine by me. I did the 40-man raid/5 times a week already. I just can't see myself going there again :/

You can but it's soooooo.... slooooooow..... There's just no dps what so ever. Trust me, I've been there.

Yes, of course. That makes completely sense. It was also my intention to ask which class was more needed rather than which one was least played :)

What server? because on Elysium at least alliance side, there is a shit ton of healers running about (20's+). Now most of them will probably not make it to 60. But still there are a lot of them running around. 

Not so many on horde side though. Tanks are at a premium... we need more TANKS!

Shamans & Warlocks are lacking for horde, or healers in general.
