getting started

Recommended Posts

Hello to all,

I played Vanilla on live Servers and now I want to have some fun in the old World of Warcraft again. But even with my experiences from Vanilla I'm in a kind of trouble, class choice...

I played Rogue and made it to Naxx and it was great, rocking the dps and sneaking around in pvp, awesome but I also remember getting 60 was pain especially when you want to do a dungeon, how does it feel here? Are there a lot of Rogues so it would be hard to get a Raid grp? How does is looks like to get an Instance grp?

The next class I'm thinking about is Warlock, but how is the feeling during levling? Is the Raid DPS good enough to find a raid grp or is there just need for 1-2 Locks per Raid for Healthstones and Summons?

Whats about Warriors? I remember it was pain to lvl right? Fury DPS in Naxx was good, so I guess getting a Raid could not be a big problem, what do you think?

And last but not least the Hunter, lvling was no problem as I remember, the Pet can tank for some lvl and you can kite and the dmg is not that bad, if you fail faint death my help to survive but how does a Hunter perform in a Raid? I can't remember that Hunter had any use except tranquilizing Bosses in MC and BWL and do some pet pulls. Do you have a real chance to get a Raid even with AQ40 and Naxx?

At the end I would ask some question about the server. 1st is the ganking on Elysium really that bad between 50-60? How is it on Anathema?

Is it hard to start from 0 on Anathema or Darrowshire cause of the timeline or is it still possible to find rnd dungeon groups and join a raid later even if you are not full T1 / T2 equiped?

Thanks in advance for your impressions, hope to see some of you soon.

You should go with what you prefer but I would say your best bet is to go warlock followed by warrior, hunter, then rogue lastly in terms raid demands.

I can't speak for anathema but yes there is alot of ganking on Elysium...if you go to most populated zones.  50-60 is a breeze if you avoid searing gorge, felwood and wpl.  Except for searing gorge which is the zone of death at all times the other zones usually aren't too bad.

There are always too many rogues on any given server.

As far as raiding goes....  Warlocks are usually the most needed class where ever you roll.

ty for your reply, why do you rank rogue that bad? Are there to much?

I'm sure they're fun to play but they are the most popular class so it's more difficult to get a raiding spot and gear.

Go warlock if you want to be in demand almost always for groups and raids. There are more than enough rogues. Leveling a warrior as your first char on the server will likely be very painful, and you will struggle to farm gold at first for the things you need.

I would suggest go with the class you want to play. If you want to play Rogue then lvl it to 60 and show ask for a trial run to prove your worth. If it shows that you can play and will challenge other Rogues in a guild, then you'll be recruited no problem.

Darrowshire (admittedly not the highest pop server) is always struggling for tanks - Warriors fill this void :)

tanks for 5mans i assume, not raids?

Tanks for 5 mans but also, any newer guilds looking for tanks for raids too. As always, tanks are always in short supply.

Cheers and thanks for all the replies. I started with a Lock and so far I'm really happy with my choice. Compared to my experiences on live Servers with my rogue Questing and Levling is no pain, it's most of the time a lot of fun. The only mobs I "fear" are undead cause they are fear immun. Even if I found 3 or more "friends" to play I've most of the time no problems to handle them. I think with higher lvls and if my void walker can't keep the aggro from my dots I'll need to be more careful but for the moment it's really comfortable.

Great! Be sure to check out some of the threads in the Warlock forums here, they have some great tips, macros and other misc information.
