Legacy needed more than ever, Legion has failed.

Recommended Posts

Take note of "On August 30, 2016, Blizzard launched World of Warcraft: Legion, which sold through 3.3 million

copies on day one, matching all‐time records achieved by previous expansions, and ranking

amongst the fastest‐selling PC games ever. The new expansion grew franchise MAUsA by nearly

30% quarter‐over‐quarter."

Also take note of this "Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Legion expansion drove record monthly participation in value‐

added services."

That last statement I posted refers to in-game store bought crap. The game is currently at around 3.3million players and blizzard is making sure to milk Legion tools via in game stores.

This is why Legacy needs to come back, since the only way to stop the bleeding is to bring Legacy.

Take special note that no wow expansions since TBC/Wrath has ever had more subs than the open month of the expac!

Lets be kind and assume a few hundred thousand people more bought the game, why did Blizzard mention that for the September 30th report?  I suspect because it would be a lower total number than day one.  Guys Legion has failed, Legacy is more needed now than ever before!

Edit;

I suspect the 2m-3 million tools that wow probably has now will never leave.  They will only be given more promises of content and more in game "services" to milk and double dip the remaining players. So the game is effectively dead, those 2-3m players will never leave and the game will not have a new play pool to draw on.  RIP, WOW was its own killer.

God I'm still pissed that Blizzard had a record month (when Legion was released) for "value‐added services." I can already see how the coming expansions will be like. More in-game store; Pets, mounts, cosmetic gear will be offer.  More races will be added and made op to entice people to race change. The  devs will slowly release new in-game models that put other models to shame, which will entice players to jump from texture pack to texture pack as its painstakingly released. Those players will shell out hundred of dollars.

God the retail community is so screwed.  Those poor players are just being milked to kingdom come.

What a sad state of affairs.

I doubt Legion has 10m subs, Blizzard would be mentioning that on its sharehold report that was done a month after release.  Mind you no WoW game from vanilla through Wrath saw more people join after the first month than the first.

Since a 10m game sale was not mentioned its safe to assume they didn't get near that number.  I suspect it was 4-5m the first month and it has since declined sharply.

No? Blizzard said they will no longer report on sub numbers like 2 years ago dude. Current subs are hovering around 10mil according to census aggregates. Also. they sold 3.3million in first 24 hours, not total...

To add to my previous post: I have not paid a single penny for the game since I had to buy Legion, previously before that I had not paid a single penny since WoWToken enabled me to pay with in-game gold.

So this "Milking the players" фекал you're going on exudes the fact you don't play on live and have no idea what you're talking about. Most players don't bother with the in-game store фекал.

Every expansion is doomed to fail because they're not willing, nor even trying, to undo the damages done by the previous ones. That train is only going 1 direction, even if it's already derailed off a cliff a long time ago. We didn't suddenly need older versions now with Legion. We've needed them since the launch of Cata, which ваууed the game for good. Cata was when the game was taken totally beyond repair, with the devs going full speed ahead in the complete opposite direction from what the game was originally meant to be, and should have stayed as.

What finally did it for me was the implementation of "Tokens" in WotlK completely negating the need to do the previous tier raid.  CoC was a gimicy joke.  Making raid bosses like Uldar first boss using vehicles, which they then used mounts in CoC, and free loot Gun-Ship Battle.

Heroic Uldar was the last thing I enjoyed before everything new was a "catch-up" for casuals.

The report clearly mentions the in-game "value added services" were at a record high the month of legion.  Those services are essentially everything that cost money beyond a subscription.

Just take a moment to see those numbers.  Realmpop would arguably be the most accurate since it scans armory. Since Legion is still very new the levels 101-110 are going to be active toons that have Legion.  Being as wow has turned into alt-fest and (from what I gathered) hitting max level takes no time at all, those numbers can be hugely impacted by some how accounting for just individual accounts AKA Alts.

The total 101-110 player base is 6.7m, I will throw out an arbitrary number and say at least 40% of that is accounted by alts. Giving us roughly 4m subs and if the trend over the last 6 years stays true, Legion will only decline from there.  As a matter of fact Legion most likely already saw its first round of people to leave.

I'm not going to participate in the debate but if Legion had enabled World of Warcraft to get back to 10 million subscribers, Blizzard would have absolutely shouted that fact across all media. Going from ~3 million to ~10 million is a massive increase and would impact their stock value significantly.

They always get a small spike on expansions because people will resub for the new content, play for a few months, then promptly quit again. There's no longevity anymore. In the past, just getting to max level could take someone a month, then a few weeks just to gear for raiding, then months in the first raid tier. Now, the entire game itself is cleared and done in less time than we used to spend just getting to max level. You'd think more levels would take longer, and it should, but it actually takes far less to get all the levels now, than it did in the past. It has gotten worse every expansion, because with each one comes another XP cut from 1-max, on top of all the talent tree buffs, dungeon nerfs, heirlooms, and so on.

I hate it when people don't try things and then talk s.hit about it. So I picked up legion for 1 month before blizzcon.

You enjoy finishing the zones. The story is cool.

The game play though... so.damn.boring. They did go in the correct direction with giving the player stuff to grind. The problem is the only thing to grind is artifact shitpower.

World quests was also a good decision, but AGAIN they miss the point of player interaction. So now you have a world that gives the illusion of being alive (thanks to cross realms and no flying mounts) but because there is no grouping involved and shared mobtag you are STILL basically playing a solo game..

I already have a legendary (lol...) and this is automatically getting ilvl increase with the next patch (lol again...) and the only things being added in the next content patches is more artifact power farm.

Needless to say, I get flamed on Blizz forums for pointing this out.

I am in dire need of this project relaunch.

Somebody misquoted a Blizzard employee saying the 10m number and Blizzard quickly issued a rebuttal saying that there wasn't 10m.

As others have said, if there were 10m then they would be shouting it from the rooftops.

I foolishly bought and downloaded Legion about a month ago and on the European realm list, I haven't seen a single Full realm any time I've logged in. Around 8-10 have been High pop, about a quarter have been Medium and the rest are Low.These are pretty shocking numbers for this stage in an expansion and the worst I've seen ( I didn't play vanilla and I started BC mid way through). The realms I have alts on are now Low population when they used to be High.

Unless there is something massively different going on in other zones, Legion has not had a successful start.

"All data is gathered from Battle.net API usign auction house data and guild rosters."

aka there is inaccuracy abound, mostly in missing data. Not in a guild? Not counted.

You forget to account for TW, KR, and CN servers, 6.795+M on just EU/US + CN/TW/KR(which have just as large a playerbase but don't use the same sites as EU/US because of language barrier.

Stop doomsaying, Live WoW is fine, yeah Vanilla is great and I wanna see Legacy server but Jesus H Christ you fear monger on this forum like WW3 is about to start.

90% are empty? I play on 2 servers on Live WoW, Sargeras (Very Heavy Population) and Windrunner (Lower End Population) and in both servers I have no trouble finding people to play with on those servers. Every year blizzard increases the server hardware quality so the servers can handle more, in july this year they implemented server changes and Sargeras when from "Full" to "Medium" because of what the new server could handle.

So saying 90% of their servers are empty makes you so full of фекал it's astounding, because you don't know anything about live.

I believe there is a bit of a bias in the Vanilla community, but hey that's okay. I personally enjoy Legion a lot. Mythic keystone dungeons are difficult and satisying to complete. The raids are on point and I always find myself grinding for something, which is cool.

Blizzard shill, confirmed.  "I love legion so much, I'm on Elysium forums eagerly waiting for Vanilla to come!"

Lol man, I play also on Sargeras and it's a dead server. The only thing that save low pop server like this is the phasing with other servers, it make you feel that there's a lot of people everywhere but it's not that (And don't talk about the 75%h / 25%a)... The only 2 "full" servers are Hyjal and Archimonde.

Edit : And thanks to the LFR/LFD system for having "no trouble finding people to play with".
