"Member Crossroads? Member Elwynn Forest? Member Stranglethorn? Oh i member!"

Hi Folks,

thought it would be a nice idea to open up a thread where we can discuss our favorite memories of Open World PVP in Vanilla WoW, be it official server or e.g Nostalrius. Maybe you'll even end up finding that damned undead rogue with fire helmet that kept killing you in Stranglethorn while you tried to compete for Hemet Nesingwarys love by skinning everyone and everything in sight?

Looking forward to your stories.

If there already was such a thread i simply could not find it and apologize for double-posting.

Kind Regards

Schurkenack

- could may well be the rogue that halted you in Stranglethorn.

So I'm a Warrior since I'm playing the game.

I once saw a mage - he killed me.

I once saw a Black Lotus, tried to pick it up, got sheeped and got killed by another mage.

The other day I was farming gold, saw a mage and got killed.

Yeah I also saw a mage once and got killed as well.

I also remember the one time I saw a mage and got killed.

But then the one fight I had. I was prepared. I had a lot of potions and thought nothing can beat me, but then... there was a mage and I got killed.

Dang how do you upload images to this BB.  I can't get anything to work.  Can't make a gallery because the pulldown menus dont work.  Cant use a web address no matter what it shows as a broken link.  Cant copy and paste.  HTF do you do it????

Atleast you could SEE the mage that was killing you. We squishies had the questionable honor of just being fried to death instant from nowhere by a 3-minute Pyrocrit. Probably the reason i rolled Rogue after a few Weeks and targeted mages like it was a personal vendetta. The hours i camped and got camped in Stranglethorn, forging the most awkard bonds ever :D

Yeah I tried using that with urls, just shows a broken link from imgur and Facebook.  Unless it is working but doesn't show it....  let's see...

It says, "you are not allowed to use that image extension on this community"  Does the site just not like imgur and Facebook?

The most entertaining world pvp memory I ever had was rezzing in the tram turnaround in IF with my two friends by the AV WSG NPCS, after seed of corruption had been added. The only way to get up was to tech jump when a ghost. We then promptly summoned guildmates and the most aggressive pvp players in the faction.

You see, the guards can't get up into the tram turn around. The healers can stay out of line of sight and the ONLY way to stop fifty people killing your pvp npcs is to mass rezz in the tram turnaround after dying, running back, making the jump (which becomes increasingly difficult when multiple people are doing it at once), timing the rezz, as a raid, and getting extremely lucky at half life. Every failed attempt at breaking our raid required at least another ten minutes of jump attempts to try again.

Meanwhile SoC and other ranged AoE are just slaughtering every fool that wandered into range.

As I recall, we held down Crushridge's IF pvp npcs for over three hours until we received a stern warning from a GM.

I have never laughed so hard, for so long, playing wow in my life. I can still taste the salt.

Well there was this one time at band camp where we had lots of players from both sides and we all killed each other it was hilarious.

and there was this one time at band camp where we actually became friends and started a guild called Azerothian Pie.

i spent an entire night in southshore inn a week after nost launched, there weren't any other high levels around so lowbies were forming raids outside of the inn. had to thin them out constantly so they couldn't overwhelm me by storming in 10 of them at once. ended up with 80dks and dropped a rank that week, but it was worth it.

I was playing my shaman, heading north through the Barrens towards Ashenvale. A gnome mage ran past me heading southwards, she was almost 10 levels above me so I decided not to tangle with her. Less than 5 minutes later two UD, a mage and a warrior, ran past saying something along the lines of "after her!" "kill kill", emboldened I turned and joined in their hunt. Thanks to ghost wolf it didn't take too long for me to catch up to her, she was determined not to be caught by her pursuers however and made good use of polymorph, frost nova and blink to evade me. I hunted her relentlessly using frost shock and earth bind totem to slow her down as best I could. Eventually just to the south of WC the other two caught up and we finally managed to kill her.

You guys will probably think I'm a dick for pursuing and killing someone who obviously didn't want to fight or perhaps a coward because I only started following her once I had back up, but it was a lot of fun. Going on this massive chase halfway across the barrens was epic, it reminded my of LOTR when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are tracking the Uruk-hai across Rohan.

There was another time I was questing in the stonetalon mountains with a bunch of other players, this level ?? warrior rocks up and starts picking us off, she wasn't level 60 probably late 40 to early 50s if I had to guess. In the end about 10 of us, all in our early 20s, decide to team up and fight back, it was almost like fighting a raid boss. In the end only me and one other player are left standing when we finally took her down.

As fun as the dungeons, raids or bgs were on nost, it was the random stuff that just happened in the world while you were playing that really made the experience what it was.

Most epic of all times : Dragons of Nightmare release. Search for it on YouTube. Better than words.

I sincerely hope this kind of large scale world pvp happens again (for AQ release ideally).

The first I member in the open beta, before I got to X-roads, was in the valley that connects Razorhill and Orgri.

An ally raid with lots of paladins jumping from the cliffs to trap a group of hordes, and after that a raid of hordes jumping into them.

Epic first experience.

Oh, how fun it was to delay the ally MC/BWL raids by camping the doorway in Searing Gorge. After an hour or so, having ganked the members of two guilds they decided they've had enough and brought every single alliance in their raid to chase us down. They corpsed camped us for a while after, but it was all well worth it.

I had a 29 twink warrior, the only time I played night elf, and I would hide in the charred vale and kill groups of hordies.  The shadowmeld behind a tree.

I am horde now.

But that was a pure joy.

My fondest memory of retail vanilla was probably during the original AV release...

I was an Undead Rogue back then (who wasn't?), and would run to Alterac Mountains where you had to queue by entering the portal since there weren't any Battlemasters.. I would stealth onto a fence at the Alliance area, and use a Gnomish Mind Control Cap to MC an NPC. I don't recall his name, but he wasn't any ordinary NPC... No, this was the beefiest Night Elf in all of Vanilla. He was a 60 elite with Fist Weapons (I believe) that had Cleave, and absolutely shredded Allies for 3-4k damage per swing, which pretty much 1 shot anyone at the time. Basically I would sit on the fence, and AOE cleave hordes of Alliance for hours upon end.. Good times.
