We need to treat each other better

Recommended Posts

I blame league of legends for turning many WoW players into a bunch of angry children. The WoW community used to be so friendly and now it seems like they have become a bunch of plebs.

Actually, no.

It all started when good old fashioned education-purpose slapping your kid became socially unacceptable.

Agree 100%.

Missing Yugoslavia times for this at least there was respect  and discipline instead insults , trashing , trolling and toxic speech, everyone could express their opinion free.

its as if you could slap anyone to make them respect you

Slapping kids is good way to educate them when they start behave like immature.

Examples like that kind of immature behaviors are : insults, derailing, trolling .

lol kid starts trolling slap him in the face haha , now that would be something to watch.

anyways I think not spoiling your kids is the way to go , a lot of kids now a days grow up with everything they could ever ask for and have never heard the word "No" or "you will have to wait" or "save for it" , its always instant gratification which brings them to believe the world owes them something.

the answer isn't in physical violence towards your child although majority of my generation went through this its disciplining them properly.

While reprimanding kids sounds like a good thing to do when they start behaving like little faggots I'm not sure that hitting them is the way to go.

Anyway it's more than LoL. While the LoL community is the prime example of what most MMO games playerbases have become, it certainly didn't contribute to create it. It's just become a norm to be a dick in quick play online games. What could happen ? I'll never see these guys again !

The popularity of "Press a button and enter a quick match" type of game is to blame. MMOs have also adopted that way to play with LFR and such.

Nope. We haven't really slap our kids since when? 1998? 2000? And look where we are?

Bunch of spoiled kids raging on forums because they will not get what they think they rightfully deserve from free service. It would not happen if their parents slapped them first time when they raged in toy store because their parents did not want to buy them their dream toy.

Believe me, one proper educational slap when they deserve it, and world would be much better place.

Well, if you said that in 2000, you would probably be right (lets pretend LoL existed in 2000)

However, in 2016 you are wrong. And, I'll explain why I think so.

You see, back in 80s and 90s, even early 2000s game designers were not being strangled by marketing as they are today. Therefor, results of their work were mostly driven by their own inspiration, and consequently, they were shaping player base, not vice versa. On other hand, today's gaming industry, because of much larger production cost can't afford wondering into uncharted waters. As a result, they create games for already existing player base. For example, LoL. who you like to blame it on, was just result of DotA popularity, not new ground-breaking project that reshaped world of gaming. In any case, today games are only meeting demands of our society, not reshaping society to accept them, and that is why I believe that you are wrong about this.

It is much easier to give one good, old fashioned, left forehand slap to your kid when he deserves it xD

I can definitely agree that game designers catering so much to the spoiled masses is definitely the worst thing that happened to the industry. So many franchises ruined because of it, it's a shame. You are probably right when you say that the designers shape the community and not the other way around.

Wether the crybabies always existed or are a product of today's education is another debate I don't know enough to talk about ;(.
