It seems like only yesterday I was opening my vanilla World of Warcraft Collector's Edition for the first time.  :surprize:

Yes I still have it, and yes this is my cat.

Here are 123 images from the end of stress test beta taken from 09/02/04 to 09/12/04 on the Nozdormu server.  http://imgur.com/a/p5FlW

Here's the end of open beta when Blizzard GMs spawned massive demons to wreck IF & SW.  http://imgur.com/a/9ijr5

Here's a video as well: https://youtu.be/3pO-dY5uIUs And another: https://youtu.be/n3XLyjMeqCU

Sorry for the low quality - back then I had a yellow RCA connector output to a camcorder to record footage in game.

And one that I didn't make, but it's great too: https://youtu.be/rLvzIY8B5mU

Faith, this one cracked me up a bit because it looks a lot like a current lowbie group, but all that gear would be heirlooms.

t8lw69.jpg

Haha too true!! But back in Vanilla the ancient bone bow was a decent blue. If you see my hunter in the middle you'll see i"m wearing I believe my full Black Dragonscale set! Such a sexy set!!

Not great gear but good enough to get me into Onyxia. That was my first ever attempt on Onyxia and most of the group was geared rather poorly. We did however take her down after about 5 attempts. :)

You can see the blackdragon scale gear listed in this link:

Really enjoying looking through these, keep'em coming!

I didn't play in Vanilla as I started around BC release, but even those old screenshots were lost when my PC was hit by lightning. :(

I'll post a few more.

Man, I remember so many of those people. Arcan, Nissassa, Smackette, Clownboat, Ishaxa...Big time PvP names back in the day...except I only remember Clownboat ganking people nonstop in menethil, lol. Fought many great battles versus Aeternus, though. Truly one of the few top notch guilds in mal'ganis PvP that you always knew was gonna be a great bg when you saw them. I hope the guilds I was in garnered the same respect (judgement, silent requiem, etc). Wait, you were badnewsbear? I actually remember that warrior too. Came along later on. Good times lol. Do you still keep in touch with any of those guys? I lost touch with all my friends from vanilla. I especially miss Zach aka Krayon aka Inhaber. Hung out with him more than anyone else. Yeah that was my alt. I know we had a few friends in silent requiem, though I think one of them plotted some elaborate troll wasting 2 months of his life leveling a horde alt and gearing up only to ninja something worthless and leave the guild. (I could be wrong about the guild though) Bgs were kind of a joke from what I recall, I just remember around naxx we got a ton of alliance transfers to the server and there was a significant shift in pvp balance.  As I said, I keep in touch with a few of them, but most have moved on from the game in general and on to families or whatever.

Quit quoting multiple screen shots.

Sorry, I'm at work and didn't realize it posted like that. I fixed it just now though.

These are not my vintage screenshots, but this is a link to some of the original World of Warcraft characters and graphics. These were obviously changed by the time vanilla actually was released. (Oops, just saw someone else posted a similar link a bit up in chat, my bad)

For over almost ~11 years I had four retail accounts, for myself, my wife, and two kids. I have thousands of Vanilla through WoD screenshots. I canceled all four accounts the day that Nostalrius was announcing its closure, after giving Blizzard more than $9,000 over 11 years for subs, transfers, name changes, merchandise, expansions, etc.

I put that in here to illustrate how ingrained WoW has been in our lives. So much so, that I even used WoW to propose to my wife, on her birthday! I took her to Camp Mojache in Feralas, overlooking the waterfalls. In the game, I had a ring and two letters I gave her. When she read the letters, giggled and sighed, and then she turned around in her chair and I was behind her on my knee with a real letter and engagement ring.

Ahh! Beautiful!

I stumbled upon a similar couple when I played retail vanilla, although their child was too young to play, could say I was like their adopted ingame son!

That aside, things like this brings a comforting feeling, smiling is irresistible.

Thanks. Glad it made someone smile! Good god there are so many memories in my life revolving around WoW - and I'm not talking just about actually playing the game, either.

One time, we were in a video game/media store, and the manager was wearing an Alliance t-shirt. We were Horde at the time. We gave him a hard time and the fun conversation that ensued actually ended up with him giving us a 50% off everything we bought that day. Good times.
