True.

What's timewalking?

It's a dungeon difficulty that allows you to do old dungeons with scaled difficulty and items. It was introduced in wod, I don't know if it's still around.

Clearly not, otherwise they would make legacy servers, no? Or do you mean, cash in on nostalgia through minimal effort/investment?

That's more like it. I meant, that's been a thing for quite a while now and I was glad to see them release something new with Overwatch.

Eh, who cares.

Let them have thier garbage.

I'll rather play on a real server. (like Nostalrius/Elysium... heck even the PvE realm)

Absolutely nothing new here. Nearly everything Blizzard has ever made has been someone else's idea, remastered and filtered through the Blizzard propaganda machine tricking their audience (it takes little effort to trick a gamer as they live within one of the tightest bubbles in existence) into believing it's all original.

Blizzard polishes but rarely innovates because it targets the largest possible audience. All of this is completely separate from whether the game is actually fun. What matters is who the game is made fun for ... the largest possible audience. If you are part of the audience that becomes a minority you WILL face abandonment. The current crop of gamers under Blizzard's scaly wing will discover this in the future. They simply have not learned their lesson yet.

I've played Legion for roughly a month (not really a BAD game, but really BAD for players who have known Vanilla) before deciding going back to privates, and I'm must say, Sir, that it is very true.

Countless sentences or easter-eggs are meant to trigger nostalgia on the old player ...

Sometimes rather funny, sometimes I have to admit it feels a bit forced to feed old content right in your mouth...

The Noggefengger Goblin guy finally becomes rich from his potions business, and can be seen in the Rogues Headquarters.

One of the Vault of the Wardens' Boss is a giant fire golem wich was frozen, thus missed the Ragnaros call to help in MC.

You can loot the Shaman T0 Bracers as a grey item just meant to make some money. The description is something like "found in a very far time, by an ancient hero on a elemental".

DK Campaign involves to come back and destroy the Scarlet Monastery, rezzing the High Inquisitor Whitemane.

There's some easter egg with Nat Paggle book and Ashbringer (back in the Vanilla day, when there was this rumor you could get it by fishing in a particular place or a lot).

etc, etc ...

I fished that lake around Scholomance forever, and then some more. All in the off-chance that I might actually find a hilt or some crap that would start me on a legendary quest for Ashbringer.

Yes it is still around, it's based on dates though. Every other Tuesday an expansion is revisited.

Meh.  We're used to real hate.  Being treated as second-class is an improvement for us.  I played on a PvP server during retail vanilla, but of course, there was maybe 1/10th the people that the Nost PvP server had (Spinebreaker was a med pop), so "WPvP" really was mostly a bunch of people around the same levels and questing in the same areas fighting back and forth.  Most of the max level characters were busy doing better things with their time than ganking lowbies, and most of the people leveling weren't actually all that interested in more than minimal PvP, so you wouldn't end up getting ganked more than 2-3 times a day, even in StV.

One of the things that Nost is never going to be able to bring back is retail vanilla style PvP.  You just don't have people looking for casual BGs or WPvP anymore.  It's either trolls that want to gank lowbies for hours on end or people running premades grinding for R14.  And the premades discourage anyone who would be interested in casual BGs because casually getting the snot stomped out of you every time you queue (or waiting 3 hours for a 3v3 that closes in the first 5 minutes) is an excellent way to discourage anyone not looking for R11+ gear.

So yeah, the rest of the community can look down on us, but I wouldn't leave the PvE server for anything.  BGs are dead to me no matter what server I'm on and I'd rather be able to level alts in peace than occasionally vent my spleen on people half my level just trying to grind their way through StV.

Man, this is so true. Lorewise both Legion and WoD are just remakes of some of the most successful masterpieces Blizzard of old has released. Really bad remakes, obviously, as one can rarely improve an existing masterpiece. People have been speculating about the return of Illidan just before the release of WoD iirc, getting hyped as usual, so yeah, let's give him to them. Let's make him a hero this time, walking the redemption path, people will love it! It's such a bullsh.it... Or reviving arguably the best realm in WoW's history - Outland/Draenor - in WoD. Again, poor content concealed behind nostalgia of the days of old.

I'm ashamed to admit they got me there as I have bought both of the above expansions and quit after about a month each time. Guess I'm just a nostalgic lore nerd. Well played Blizzard, you can scam some people off of their money but at the expense of their trust.

How clueless is the OP. Man... For the rest. I will always remind you that you play on a Blizzard game. You know.. The game you love is made from the company you seem to hate.

I also bought Legion and Wod. Quit Legion after one moth and wod after ONE DAY. At least I got a refund for wod.

And know that you say it, it's true, a lot of what made WoW famous tend to come back ... Ragnaros, Illidan, Outland, ...

Feels a bit like the new Star Wars franchise, to be honest

It's not hatred really, I'm just disappointed. I used to consider Blizzard the rolemodel company in their field. Warcraft series, Starcraft, Diablo 1 and 2, WoW obviously - they were all great and I'm really grateful I was able to experience most of those titles in their full glory. I still enjoy some Hearthstone from time to time, but modern WoW or Diablo are just abominations. I've heard similar opinions on SC2 but haven't played this series that much myself so idk. And the common knowledge is that even though the company name remains the same, it is not the same team who were the godfathers of their success.

Their absolutely not "abominations" holy christ get off that horse, pretty please? Some of the most well tested and highest selling games that appeal to a massive number of people, have solid gameplay, and generally make you feel like you get your money's worth are not some trash games. They just are not exactly the your ваууing nostalgia, they moved on. The games are totally different beasts then d2 or pre-cata wow but that doesn't make them ваууing bad in anyway. Are they completly diffrent? Yes but they're totally different games, you can't even compare retail wow with classic wow, it's a totally different ваууing game. When played as independent games that merely share a backstory or a thematic sense of presences they are totally fine.
