Is this the new Nostalrius ?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

I heard that Nostalrius is back. That they gave all their DBs and scripts to Elysium. So ofc I ran here to play again on my favorite version of the game and.... SURPRISE ! 1 Hour queue.

From what I remember Nost could handle 13k players without any problem (and I'm sure they could have gone much further). So I don't really have the impression that Elysium has benefited from the Nost' experience right now... Is it going to stay like that all the time ? :s

Thanks!

Kind regards.

I imagine the server queue will go down once they open the fresh PvP server. For what it's worth, there only seems to be a queue in EU peak times.

Q or no Q this is NOT the Nost core.

Its some form of hybrid - But it is 100% not the Nost core that's for sure - The database is Nost but as I keep repeating myself - It is not the Nost core but some hybrid of them both.

It is the Nostalrius core. As evidenced by our patch notes, the team implemented a large number of fixes on old Nostalrius bugs. I'm sure everyone is happy that the bag bug, for example, is gone. However, the unfortunate downside of software development is that sometimes fixing one thing breaks another thing or causes unforeseen things to happen. Old players from Nostalrius surely remember the Day When All Hats Vanished.

the fact of the matter is old nost had FAR TOO MANY players. you cant sit here and tell me you had a stable connection on old nost post 13k. along with many

I experienced a minor increase of my latency during these major peak times but nothing unplayable.

So, initialy I wondered why this queue exists. Hardware limitation ? Will this be fixed soon ?
If it's the will of the admins then why ?

It's adorable how people that have virtually no idea about coding or about wow emulating claim to be #1 detective and saying its not Nost core because they found a bug they didn't know before or stumble upon a NEW bug that got created due to fresh patches. Are you people that dense?

i just wonder what they mean by nost "core". maybe it is the nost core - but what did the core not include?

currently i only play casually, yet ive encountered more bugs in that short time than within many months on nost before. so i can fully understand if ppl become skeptical. especially my hunters pet is bugging: "hold" doesnt work properly anymore. it often uses the wrong stop-coordinate after it was sent to attack meanwhile. it automatically uses prowl, even when its inactive. "agressive" mode doesnt work while on "hold", it wont move at all. if i use "eye of the beast" i 50% get DCed after channeling is over. its just a short list, only regarding pet bugs i did not encounter before. there are way more mainly regarding environment and NPCs. weresuch things not part of the "core"?

IIRC when they say "core", they mean things like scripting, bugs, etc.

Lots of idiots are paranoid that this server isn't the "real" nost core, because there are bugs that weren't present on nost. But there are plenty of bugs that WERE present on nost.

So many people don't understand why Hotfixes are a thing I guess. So to put it as simply as possible... when the staff go to fix a bug or improve on things, they have to change the code. Making a change in the code can cause conflicts with other codes already written that were not even touched. This is why they have patches and hotfixes. When a patch happens, expect some "undesirable" behavior from the game. There are issues, but the staff here (albeit very small) seem dedicated to getting the issues fixed.

Ok, i make it simple with a Children Song so even you dense guys get why there are new Bugs or Bugs that reoccured after being fixed once:

99 little Bugs in the Code.

99 little Bugs in the Code.

Take one down, Patch it around.

127 little Bugs in the Code.
