Horec 1 Report post Posted January 23, 2017 This is probably question for endgame experienced hunters. What is the most appropriate and effective way of using training points for my pet? I mean, number of training points every pet can get is limited, so every hunter has to decide on what abilities he spend them. For instance, let's say hunter tamed a Lupos and want to use it as main leveling pet to 60 and then do pve and some raids. Are there any mandatory abilities to learn for this pet to be eligible for raiding? Is it worth to update to newer ranks of Furious Howl, Bite and Dash while leveling, or just learn last rank? What about resistances and other abilities? Yes, I know, it mainly depends on playstyle of each player, but are there any advices or tips how to spend training points most efectively?
Trales 1 Report post Posted January 23, 2017 While i would be interested in that aswell, since im kinda new to hunter, i have noticed something about different levels of abilities: Lets say ability A costs 20 points for lvl1 and 50 points for lvl 2. If you take rank1, the cost of rank2 will still be shown as 50 points, but you only have to spend 30 points, so there is no cost in upgrading an ability you want to max out anyway while leveling. Also i dont think it's possible to use any lower rank abilities once you have learned a higher rank, or at least i dont find any options for that. It seems that the cd/cost never gets higher so there is hardly any reason to use an upgraded ability(similar to how rogues dont have access to lower ranks)
Helloqt 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2017 full stamina, fire rez(for fresh), don't focus on armor.
Hexygon 2 Report post Posted January 23, 2017 My standard spec is rank 1 of all the resists, and max armor and stamina. But if your focus is pvp, you may want to increase your pet's CC resistance: Arcane to combat polymorph, nature for scare beast/sleep... frost for frost nova/freezing traps, you get the idea. It is situational. If you're in Molten core, max fire resist. You can reset at the pet trainer. I generally leave the pet on my standard until I'm 60, but if you're try-hard and you know the mobs ur grinding are using a certain type of magic, buff your pet's resist to that.
Trales 1 Report post Posted January 23, 2017 Does anyone know the cost of respeccing your pet? Is it similar to respeccing your own talents, or does gold cost cap lower/higher?

Xylon666Darkstar 4 Report post Posted January 25, 2017 Scar Beast is shadow. You'll want nature yes though for Entangling Roots + Sleep. Respeccing pets is pretty damn cheap.

Nosleep 4 Report post Posted January 25, 2017 Respeccing is the only way to be! respec based on the encounter. and while levelling its up to you, cos it dont really matter.. but having a strong tank pet will save your life on those accidental over-pulls.
