warning to those starting here

First off, im an altoholic. Just a friendly reminder to not get too attached to your toons. 

I started retail in 2008 but only recently playing Elysium before the Nost debacle, right before Christmas.  I suck at grinding, and enjoy the rested xp.  I had 5 or 6 toons that i continuously switched back and forth playing.  Absolutely LOVE Vanilla.  I have never once cheated, hacked or exploited this game nor will i ever.

Yet tonight i was questing on my rogue in Hillsbrad, ganked by a ?? rogue and suddenly now I am perm banned for 'modifying files and/or running 3rd party software'.  This was news to me as i had done no such thing. Ive only run addons that i downloaded from the sponsored Elysium site.

I guess ill go back to retail even though i dont want to, but at least there i wont be wrongly accused of cheating.

Im sure this will get swept under the rug and forgotten by everyone except me.  Just a reminder to not get too involved in this, as it can quickly be taken away from you.

Sorry to hear about your ban if you're truly innocent. One question: What's this "sponsored Elysium site" you speak of?

feenix, vanilla-gaming, aowow, i mean you can find add-on lists from those sites easily.  i used Alexensuals and Frostadamus guides on youtube. 

 

i suppose my wording wasnt the best, but i assume you know what i mean.

what i DIDNT do was cheat or hack, but yet here i am posting forums and trying not to face the reality that i just lost 10+ toons and months of work.

unfortunately, theres not any more to it.  Im a solo player, i keep to myself most times but had recently found a good guild and ppl i could whisper for help.

 

ive only ever used add-ons that many others are currently using(like i said, Alexensual and Frostadamus) and never bought gold of any kind.  Gold spammers and bots continue to fill the server, yet, like i said before, i get innocently banned.

If you are going make such claims at least include a copy of your ban appeal and response from the admins.

if i remember correctly they cant check for that, cause that would require them to scan your folders. doable, but illegal. than again..

I wont go into detail as to how it works as I do not know, but the anti-cheat system called "warden" does have some sort of system for checking locally stored .MPQs and detecting modifications to these. Its probably entirely legal too due to ToS or something.

File hashes would be enough for integrity checks, and are certainly not illegal. Can't remember if the 1.12.1 client already has those though.

had many ppl in my retail guild that used modeledits (up 2 cataclysm). a few of them also edited mpqs to make a tunnel from the strath entrance to baron (several hundred runs) and didnt get suspended. 

so i wonder if their system is better, although i still adivce against using any edits unless you dont care that much about your account.

Mud used a speed hack, thought he could get away by using just small increases. Unfortunately he wasn't quite as smooth as he thought he was.
