Haplessmage 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 Hello all, I just found out about the Elysium Project and wanted to ask a few questions before I would join. I have played wow since about the time BC came out and am still playing today. If I would have known about the Nostalrius server before it was shut down I think I would have played on it. Here are my questions: I have heard rumors that if you play on servers like this and Blizz finds out they would ban the account that you have with them. Is there any true to this? I don't want to lose everything I have worked for over the years even if I stop playing it. From what I have read, Darrowshire is the only PVE server right now so I believe this is where I will be playing. (have played on a pvp server since I started and I don't have time to deal with it anymore, I don't mind world pvp if we are about the same lvl but I have never understood why people gank lowbies). I would also play on the alliance side. My question is, is there any role/class that there is a shortage of? I have always liked being useful and have no problem playing a class/role that no one wants to play. My main has always been a warrior and I started tanking in BC. I have also healed in raids. Are there any notable differences between these vanilla servers and the ones blizz originally put out? (did they add things that weren't there originally? or remove the?) I know I will think of more questions. I started downloading the game before I left for work so I am hoping I have time for character creation tonight. Sorry this post got a little long with personal info, I like giving context. I am sure I will think of more questions after I post this. Thanks all

I don't want to lose You are breaking the ToS, so in theory they could. But in reality they don't - losing a paying customer would be rather silly! Are there any notable differences between these vanilla servers and the ones blizz originally put out? I would have loved to write "No!", but there are differences. My question is, is there any role/class that there is a shortage of? (Warrior) Tanks are always needed, but in general: play the race, class and spec you like - there is room for everyone.
Haplessmage 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 Thanks for the fast response! I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about getting banned or something, it would be my luck to be the first person it happens to. Do you have have any examples about what is different? (you dont have to be too specific). I dont supposed they added to mog system to this? thats the only thing I like that they have added to the current game lately. I was planning on rolling warrior to start so that will work out. I've always wanted to tank in vanilla. Thanks again.

I.e. no transmog, no pay-to-win, no realm transfer. With differences I mostly think of bugs: you will encounter some quests not working or behaving differently. In general, most is as it was back in retail vanilla, and you won't see any huge differences. Regarding your account: don't worry for Blizzard. I've played both retail and private server at same time for several years (quit retail some months ago though) and never had any problem. I even posted on official forums about private servers, so it's not like I kept low :-) That said, I still hope Blizzard some days presents a vanilla-like server - or a retail server with vanilla mechanics (no flying mount, no dungeon/raid finder, no guild perks, better raid tiers etc.) .. I know, i know ... won't happen!
Software 9 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 Your battle.net account is entirely separate from your account here.
Maez 4 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 Maybe just don't stream under the same account. Or share screen shots on live. Those things might get you banned.

Haplessmage 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 I agree Mimma, I would prefer no fly, dungeon finder, ect ect. Doubt it will ever happen as well. Is there a difference in how these server are set up compared to nostralius? How do we know blizzard won't take issue with this?

Haplessmage 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 When I went to create an account it said not to use outlook or hotmail, what should I use? I was going to make a Gmail account but that looks like almost the same thing. Tried it anyway and I have been waiting for about 45minutes to verify it.
Maez 4 Report post Posted March 2, 2017 I use gmail. There may be issues with the page since Elysium has been getting ddos'd the past couple of days. The authentication server has been acting wonky also, so it may just be related to that.
Haplessmage 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2017 Thanks to everyone who responded. I was able to get on and get some lvls. I forgot how much the kobold caves in goldshire sucked. Is there no autoloot feature this early in the game? I looked everywhere for it. Also wasn't there a weapons master or something for warriors to train with to learn guns and stuff? I really enjoyed the little bit I was able to play. Looking forward to meeting some peeps the old fashioned way and doing some dungeons. Night all.

Also to answer your previous question; Noone has ever been banned from retial wow for having a preivate server again. It has never ever happend.
Kuthela 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2017 Weapon masters are in the major cities, but you have to be lvl 10 to train other weapons. No auto loot that I'm aware of, but I use Lazy Pig addon so the loot window opens under my mouse cursor and all I have to do is right click.
randomnoob 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2017 blizzard wont do anything to you if you dont do something provocative like talking on their forums that you play here or talking about it constantly on their retail game i wouldnt worry about that.

They don't do anything even in that situation. As I said. Your account here has nothing to do with your battle.net account, if you even have one. It's like having an account at chase bank and 5th/3rd bank at the same time. One is not aware of the other.
