Its OK, that they've charged their own money back. The only thing they did wrong is that they should have informed Elysium staff before doing that, so that staff could pay before Anaphema had gone offline.

Riuning an evening to 10k ppl makes them bad persons - not charging their money back. Just be mature and think about other people.

Btw why dont open transfer to elysium server, atleast there we can play without server Down all time. Look at server status, there say elysium up time=almost  5 days, i Never see more than one Day in anathema.

Ban the people that did this just like you banned Alex. You should have no tolerance for this shameful shit. It's screwing with your ISP service, and screwing everyone who plays on the server. You may want to reconsider your entire donation system because of these issues as well. You have donation straight to the ISP service, which makes it vulnerable to scams like this. You should funnel the funds through something else first, to avoid this kind of shit taking the server offline.

That's not how the OVH donation system works. As I understand it, you had to donate to a specific server of your choice. It wouldn't be possible to redirect funds for one server to another.

True, but informing about your intention to get your money back is a good manners and allows to avoid situations like this one. They are scums bcoz they dont care about other people that could play today. Just inform the staff, they will pay 2k more and you can get your money back without crushing server.

I think you fundamentally don't understand what the word "donate" means, not to mention any of the legal/financial issues therein.

 

Donating to an ostensibly non-profit endeavor like a political campaign or a private server is like just giving your money to someone with your blessing to use it however they wish, within the guidelines that it isn't for profit. If you donate to a political candidate, and then they dont do everything you want them to do, you can feel scammed, and choose not to donate next time around (or fund opposition, etc), but this is not a business transaction. This is not a quid-pro-quo transaction where you are paying for specific services rendered with an agreed upon outcome.

 

If you pay blizzard to play their game, there is an expected level of service which you are agreeing upon by making that payment, and there are reasonable services and accommodations that they hold themselves liable to make for you while using their product, or you can have them issue a refund if you have the grounds for it. Even then, you can't just run chargebacks against them if you get pissy for whatever reason; well, you can, but they are then well within their right to bar you from using their service in the future, likewise your own credit company can bar you from using their services if they deem you to be abusing the chargeback system.

 

This whole thing is just sad because these two chargebacks (alex and this one) have caused the elysium project to lose the ability to use direct server donations to OVH, which were great for the level of trust and transparency they provided to the private server scene.

You opted for the direct payments with OVH precisely to be transparent about the server funding. Now that it has unfortunately come down to PayPal after all, many donators are putting their trust in you.
Please, do not betray their trust. If you get more donations than needed for the funding of the server, do not let greed come over you.
