Auction House Spam

Recommended Posts

I'm sure we've all seen a fair share of one guy flooding the auction house with a certain item. For example as I'm typing this the horde auction house on Elysium has 24 pages (yes I counted them) of one guy selling a single strange dust (overpriced of course, but either you buy it for his price or spend minutes to get to a page with other sellers). I think most people will agree with me that this is incredibly obnoxious.

So I want to propose that there will be put a limit to how many auctions one character can have at any one given time. I don't know where exactly this limit should be but how about 200? Or maybe the Elysium team or the community has better ideas?

Use aux. Even if you want to play this game without any addons.

best addon ever for those looking to get the cheapest price as well as trying to corner the market.  MUST HAVE ADDON!

Previously there was a limit on how many auctions a individual character could have. Many players complained about this, so it was removed. What would be an acceptable number to limit auctions on?

255 or 500 seem like a reasonable numbers, even for the AH fiends. Does listing 1500 auctions cause problems for the mail server?

50 seems reasonable in my opinion and I'm an AH fiend.

If the most simultaneously auctions you have listed is ~50, you're merely an AH dabbler.

I consistently have 150+ unique items, on two accounts.

That enchanting materials are not subject to an AH listing fee is the principle reason for people doing that whole 200 listing of a single [Strange Dust].  Adding a listing fee would likely resolve that matter more effectively, but "MUH NOT BLIZZLIKE".

I typically post about 300-400 unique auction posts per day, and rarely for single item if the item is stackable. It depends on the market. Sometimes you want to post full stacks, sometimes single items sell better or are more profitable. Strange dust I generally sell in stacks, while mats like essences I sell as single items.

As was previously mentioned, get an AH addon. I use AUX. It'll group all of those single items together for you and show the lowest price first. You can double click on the line if you really want to view all of the individual auctions.

I have no problem at all viewing the auction house. It just takes some skill and learning how to work it.

I price stuff reasonably so I rarely I have to relist stuff.  If you're having to post 300 or 400 items you're doing something wrong (inefficient).

I don't limit myself to a niche market, but rather take the shotgun approach and sell everything. Most of my characters aren't high enough level yet to farm efficiently, so i sell a lot of lower level items and various crafting mats, particularly cooking reagents. Stuff like that has highs and lows and moves slowly on the market, but it does sell eventually.

True, I could just vendor it all and focus on a couple of high level items or focus on leather and enchanting mats, but I see steady profit over time, and as long as my gold level goes up, I keep selling stuff. It's part of the game and I enjoy playing with the economy.

Actually, I've probably flooded the market on Zeth'Kur for certain items, due to the lower player base. I'm looking forward to transferring to Darrowshire and having a larger market to work in.
