Wever 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 Well, maybe it's quite late for me to start playing this game but back then I wasn't able to do it. I am a fan of MMORPG, but no matter what I can't find a good game I'm not sure what I'm looking for. So far, after reading a lot about Vanilla and Legion, I understand the difference between them, and I decided I want to play Vanilla. One of my favorite MMORPG was Lineage 2, and there is nothing like that, at least WoW Vanilla looks very similar in terms of difficulty, no flying, a lot of PVP, knowing most people in the server because you run into them all the time, human interaction and a lot of talks, good community, etc. The thing is that I don't know anything about WoW, Vanilla should be a good place to start but I think most people here are very familiar with the game and I could feel quite lost. Maybe people will not give a fuck about me because of that. I don't have a lot of free time to play but I like hard games, buying a lvl100 in Legion doesn't make any sense for me, easy gear, queue for instances, 0 challenge doesn't make sense either. I always like to play a mage or some kind of assassin player, as far as I know there is a rogue or dagger type of class here, maybe I am going to choose that one. Any advice I should know or anything in particular? Take in mind I have 0 knowledge about the game, I feel a familiarity with some things because I play Hearthstone and I have played Warcraft 1, 2 and 3. One last thing, what server should I choose? I like PVP and PVE, but I'm not sure which one I should pick to start with. With that being said, thanks a lot for reading and see you in-game!
Oakenlix 79 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 I do believe vanilla wow to be a much better game overall than L2, so I think you'll like it a lot. Whether you choose a mage/warlock or a rogue, these are all very good classes, so just pick what you like. As for the server, I recommend Elysium pvp, if you're fine with tough world pvp.
mytchi3 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 I wouldnt pick rogue as your first ever vanilla class. Go with mage or warlock. If you dont know how to make gold you will be lvl 60 green equiped weak poor rogue. Mages can farm easy naked and you will have easier time finding raidspot.
Ash 22 Report post Posted May 6, 2017 Wever, Classes are your own personal choice, play what you think you'll like. But bare with it as Vanilla WoW is hardcore. I do know that Warrior is the hardest class to level...it's a nightmare! Mage are a great caster class! As for servers. Anathema is top level player heavy. If you're new to Vanilla and want to experience going through the patches i'd choose Elysium. In Vanilla you shouldn't feel lost but i do recommend downloading an addon called Questie and Vanilla guide :) Anymore questions, just ask! :) Regards, Ashlol
Gnog 1 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 Roll a mage. It's easy to play moderately well. One of the easiest classes to level. Not gear dependent. It's fun to play solo and in groups, has multiple viable specs for different focuses, and is a great farming class if you decide to roll a new toon once you've had enough experience in the game to make a more informed decision.
chirven 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 Definately pick Elysium pvp imo since it hasnt progressed much in content yet. Class is preference but I would go off feel instead of game mechanics - just make sure you understand what your class can do at endgame (some classes can only heal like priest as an example). Alexsensual has a video series on every class at endgame and although there is some inaccuracy, the general message is right.

All classes that have healing spell are needed and wanted in endgame, but most of them are only healers while some can also perform other roles like feral tanks or shadow priests, no retardins are not a respected pve spec /kind regards killerduki. If you pick any class mage warlock as caster you will be needed.

Morathe 5 Report post Posted May 8, 2017 One important thing you should learn very fast is that macros and nicely setup UI is very big part of your success early on so take ur time and learn about it early. Experiment with addons and macros whenever you can. Basic UI was ok 12 years ago but nowadays most of people use alert addons, timers and indicators that gives them huge edge over people that play "pure". Thats the thing with vanilla, API for macros and addons sometimes feel like bordering "cheats" but its allowed in this version of the game as API allows it.

Justme 9 Report post Posted May 9, 2017 Having a shadowpriest do damage is like having a survival hunter go melee or a ret paladin go heal Yes they can. Yes it might work sometimes. Doesn't mean they should.
mytchi3 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2017 Shadow priest is completely viable pvp and pve spec. In raid with 3 warlocks their debuff makes up for lack of dmg. And its very fun spec
