Recommendation for a new player

Recommended Posts

First time posting here, so hi everyone!

I am thinking of playing Vanilla once again as I got bored of Legion so I need some information regarding the realms, hope someone can provide me with useful information.

As a new player who wants to progress through Vanilla PvE once again, which realm should I go for?

I am tempted to go to one of the 2 new realms just because it seems they are more "back in time" compared to older ones.

How's the PvE scene on the realms and if I join some of them, am I better doing PvE on A or H side?

Thanks in advance!

When it comes to vanilla, PvE is always better on Alliance.

Trying to level Alliance on Elysium is one of the worst gaming experiences tho, second only to playing League of Legends.

Darrowshire is the only PvE server I think. Mostly Alliance so if you want more people play alliance. Horde from my experience is critically low and the only guilds are "friend guilds" I've been searching for a guild for days and have yet to find one that takes new players, even if you are casual. You are the spec/class they need or no go.

you got to remember darrowshire = old nost. So a lot of people are already decked out/raid loggers. From alliance side I saw a lot more people but hardly anyone wanted to quest or level despite obviously being on the same quest.

play horde though! I love horde. But only if you don't tickle me. .

Alliance is apparently a blast at max level, however getting there is another story as you have Chinese honor farmers inbetween 40min que pops that farm level 50s and up in order to rank up because it's that much of a grindfest.

Alliance has it easier in both PvE and PvP with paladin buffs.

If you enjoy battleground PvP, Alliance typically has instant queues since their population is lower on the PvP realms. Soloing as alliance from level 50+ is going to be rough on any of the PvP realms.

Elysium is a fantastic server (i just started alliance with a hand full of toons at or just under 20).

I can't speak for the other servers.

If you like grouping up while you level one of the newer servers will have more people leveling up alongside you. Elysium will have the most people to group up with. My character is level 48 now and I've always been able to find groups on Elysium for whatever I've wanted to do.

I'm satisfied with everything on Elysium except the fact that it wil take too long for the raid instances except MC and Ony to be released. Same goes for many quests and items.

Zeth is pointless because it's being closed.
I'd suggest Anathema if you want PVP, or Darrowshire if you want PVE.

Anathema will be the lowest population server after ZK closes. That's not good for PvP.

Hence why it needs more people.

Sure Anathema needs more players, you're not going to fix that with ZK transfers or trying to recruit new players to roll on a dead Nost fossil server.

I do appreciate Anathema for thoroughly testing all of the raid content before it's rolled out to the flagship Elysium server. You guys provide a great service.

Why? You mean ganking? So if you play on Horde you never get ganked or?

Darrowshire is old Nost-PvE.

Anathema is original old Nost-PvP.

Alliance on Elysium is far from horrible (so far).  I understand it's going to get tougher (24 mage atm).  So far my only two like-level PVP encounters were fairly easy victories.  And other than a red skull level mage ganking me inside the inn at Menthil Harbor (LOL), i've been able to beg and charm my way out of being slaughtered by every single red skull hoardie i've encountered.  Most people aren't jerks.

If you hit the high 20s low/mid 30s and intend on questing/leveling in SV, you get what you deserve.  And (BTW) it's likely not too much fun for the hoard at that level in SV either.  I'm curious to see how it evolves as i move into the 30s and 40s.  Like i said, i know it will get harder.  But i think that's true for both factions.

Also the 45%A / 55%H ratio is the absolute worst case scenario you'll find at any given play time.  There are times when it is a true 50%A / 50%H ratio.  Generally it is somewhere in between those two extremes.

Overall, it's a real blast from the past.  People want to help you.  They want to group.  You'll meet friends and easily get support for any quest you're doing.

Anathema has a much nicer and stable community, Elysium is where all the undead frost mages gank lvl 50's

The server is also far from dead. Compared to the overpopulated mess that is Elysium PvP it might seem like it, but the pop is very very healthy in regards to original vanilla numbers.

Elysium is far from overpopulated. It was at the start but that's long passed.

If it wasn't overpopulated you wouldn't need increased material spawn/drop rates

Vanilla server caps were at 2500, you might get used to Elysium pop being okay, but the game wasn't designed for 6k people online.

Unfounded, I wouldn't believe this guy. Anathema has a healthy raid logger population. When ever I log in with my Anathema character during US primetime I see the pop barely over 1k.

us primetime is usually the time where the population drops the lowest. at least thats how it is on elysium.
