The Birth of Legacy: Nostalrius Returns

Recommended Posts

What is the point of merging 1 year and 2 month old server?

Not to mention BWL

Full T2 and Rank14 old Nost players versus green Elysium. So all elysium players will go for fresh.

why just not to leave elysium alone?

Please remember that the Nostalrius PvP realm had a rather large population. Only a small fraction of that is decked out in full T2 and only a handful are R14. Vast majority of the server population was either under 60 or 60s still working towards patch 1.8 BiS gear. The Elysium players will not stand out as if they were useless scrubs.

Furthermore, we cannot maintain two different cores going forward. For the sake of our developers sanity, we must stick with one core.

So, what if you already have an account on Elysium with the exact same login details as your Nost account? Will it вау up or what? What if you can't remember your Nostalrius login info?

Your Elysium account will get "_e" added to the end of it. So, for example let's say your account was Blahblah on Nostalrius and Elysium, so after the transfer you will have two accounts: Blahblah with your Nostalrius characters and Blahblah_e with your Elysium characters.

Our guild was farming BWL quite early and most of our regular players were pretty geared, however our applicants came from the bulk of the population of Nostalrius, to give ya the comparison point:

This was my character on nost, probably 10-20 warriors realm wide had the same gear:

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=NRB&player=Krah

This is what most of our applicants looked like:

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=NRB&player=Duuz

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=NRB&player=Genryusaii

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=NRB&player=Graphiczz

The "gap" between my character and a fresh 60 warrior should take between 1-3 months, less with lady luck on yer side.

For a DPS going for the very best gear, it might take longer because ya have more competition.

All in all, you could end up with the same gear level as the best geared players from Nostalrius for the release of AQ.

You've got nothing to fear.

Unfortunately that is not going to be possible. The Valkyrie database is massive and has significant differences to both Nostalrius database and Elysium database. It would make our already daunting task even more difficult.

It's more difficult and expensive to Elysium team maintain a VERY inexistent population server. It would be better transfer that chars to merged elysium and nost DB, i'm sure if you try to do, you will do. You are talking about to leave unsupported all Valkyrie's players?

Since the Valkyrie population is so low, a database transfer isnt necessarily needed. For example, you could implement a simple ticket-based system where a person on valkyrie could at least get the gear on his character and his gold transfered over. IMO its extremely unfair to just neglect the Valkyrie community in such a way. They were here far before the nost guys(which I have nothing against.), and have supported this project through though times, I can honestly say you can easily do this as an act of gratitude to the few members left playing on valk.

+1, i have supported this project in the past.

I cant believe how much excitement over this merge! haha I went to go an practice a bit on an instant 60 server since I havent played since nost went down, and literally all anyone is talking about is Elysium, the merge of cores and the return of the Nost DB, it seems the hype train is absolutely massive at the moment, and it will just get bigger as more and more people find out about it.

I cant wait for this announcement on Sunday; keep spreading the word guys the more people you tell the more who will return, so many people are so excited to continue their vanilla experience where they left off this is going to be incredible!

This would be fantastic and I hope it's considered as an option.

I have to agree with a *fresh start* server. I have a bunch of friends and myself who only learned about it when it was to late to join in as most of us see private servers with very few people and more often cheat mode so most of us dismissed the idea of looking for a real wow classic server. Yet to join in starting fresh while others are already at the top puts fresh people at a big disadvantage. If one remembers even back in wow classic days and more so nowadays many guilds expect someone experienced in content and don't care on training. Plenty may not remember every fight and others may never have played wow classic.

As far as people bailing after the first month I doubt it will be so big as some may think. Those looking to play wow classic know its difficulty compared to mmorpg's today and its slowness so they are prepared for that. Further at other games that tried *classic* servers such as EQ2 they were huge hits for months but the main complaints were that it was NOT a true classic experience and SoE then Daybreak had it set up as a cash shop for those wanting to get ahead who then pushed for expac after expac while the vast majority weren't really ready to move on.

People need to stop arguing and start celebrating, move forward as the new Elysium community! the gms have already announced whats happening and its undeniably awesome because it benefits literally every demographic:

  • The Elysium will become the largest most popular global community, gets a sorely needed huge population boost and multicultural community allowing people in all time zones to raid pvp and play together no matter what time of the day, an enriched economy which will be mediated through the community instead of controlled by the few players lucky enough for certain profession drops or whatever, and litterally the best scripted core in the world for vanilla wow.

  • The members of nostalrius get a new home and a reason to start playing again, bringing 250,000 players; reuniting the wow community once more and allowing the awesome legacy of legacy wow to continue

  • The new members get a server freshly created just for them so they dont have to compete with the members of Elysium or the members of nostalrius.

The situation is litterally the best of every world possible, nothing could be possibly better then this so lets hear some more thanks and some less complaining

VERY IMP. QUESTION (pls some detail answer)

1. Most of us old nost players have acc here with chars that have same name like on Nost server how do you plan to sort that out ?

2. What will you do with with same accounts names ?

3. What with ppl who forgot their nost acc details or e-mail details,or got their yahoo acc hacked... ?

Before i start explaining, I do wish to clarify that I am NOT a Nostalrius or Elysium Staff member, nor have I ever been, what I say is just what I have heard, read, or speculate. If you wish for a more solid answer for any of these questions, Elysium announced that they are holding an AMA session (Ask Me Anything) over Reddit on Sunday about 9pm CET or 3pm EST on the "/r/wowservers" section (https://www.reddit.com/r/wowservers/)

1. I have heard because of nostalrius' sealed files they wont be able to change those, but since nost employees work for Elysium now, they may be able to get around that. I believe (I couldn't find the source, so relying on my memory which could be flawed) a nost or elys staff said they will be prioritizing power of the character (a level 10 on one will not take the name of a 60 on the other) .There has been no official answer (that I am aware of), but they are probably (speculation) going to be giving out name changes to same powered characters or adding like an n or nost to ones from nost, vice versa with e of elys to elysium players, while giving chance to change the name.

2. Account names, same as the answer to question 1

3. If you have forgotten your username or password there will most likely (assuming/speculating) that there will be a forgotten password or forgotten username button to send an email to your old email. Your hacked email or forgotten email though, you will have to contact the email provider, yahoo, and try to get that back yourself. Nost can't give you an account with neither your user/pass or your email because then anyone could have anyone else's account. So at very least try to get yahoo back by contacting them. They will probably ask you security/person info on the account in order to verify it is you. If you are not able to get your email back, your out of luck.

I hope this helps, but just a reminder everything I said shouldn't be taken as Elysium's words since I don't work for them, but I do encourage you to ask the 1st 2 questions in the AMA if someone else doesn't before you. You can ask the 3rd question about the 1st half clarification, but the email portion i can almost guarantee you they will say the same I said.

Do we have any idea what the Realmlist should read yet?

Or better than an idea...      Do we know?

If they are not changing it, it will be "logon.valkyrie-wow.com"

Well, first time I post something here.

I'm a former Nost player on the old PVP server from week 1 of its release. (only got to lvl 41 with my warrior, but I'm a casual players who took breaks to play others games as well). Was still very sad to see my character gone when server got shut down. Even with 10k players online (6k during NA evening time) it was hell of a fun as it always felt very lively (no problem to find a group for dungeons).

I then moved on K1 by acquiring a lvl 52 warrior from their twinstar auction house as I didn't want to spend 2 months leveling from scratch (warrior is tough to level with).

Then they quickly announced the opening of a fresh new server (K2) to compensate the wave of nost's refugees that came from Nost shut down. Indeed, Kronos team went into panic mode instead of upgrading their hardware.

what came from this was obvious, the hype cooled off, Kronos 1 population started to decreased rapidly (of course, all new players or low levels from K1 prefered starting on a fresh server, that's common sense to any players). So questing in lvl 50's zones felt very dull, as there was only maybe 2 or 3 players even on alliance side who were online at the same time. In starting zones, it was a ghost town. No new players joining the server anymore, AH felt empty and out of stock. While there was 40+ on K2 on starting zones. So I started a new char as well on K2 (now warrior lvl 36).

At the moment, Kronos community is debating about merging both servers to slow down or prevent the hemorrhage, but no decision will be received positively by the K community, ofc. Many players (including myself most probably, depending where the population will go) will leave K2 trying to resume i guess the Nost experience we had more than a year ago. Which will cause a problem to Kronos : death server for K1, low population for K2 and it might actually die.

I'm not a fan boy ofKronos, nor I am for Nost. I just want to play on a high populated and quality server, no matter it's timeline in contents. Preferably, I would like to retrieve my old Nost lvl 41 that I worked hard on. But as long as their is enough population on the former pvp server!

BUT, I'm writing all this because I'M VERY WORRIED about the decision to open a fresh new server ALONG the re-opening of the old PVP and PVE Nost servers. I'm very afraid it will do the same issues that Kronos got with K1.  All people coming here because of the Nost Hype and reputation will want to start fresh, including (most probably) players who had a lvl 40 (even 50) and lower on Nost & Kronos 2 to start fresh on a new cool server once again. Therefore, a minority of players will resume on the old PVP/PVE server, which will kills it because of it's low population (why would I resume my lvl 41 characters if there is almost no players to play with, to group with). It will snowball to two ghost servers...!

I think it's a very very bad decision from Elysium team and Elysium/Nost team should learn from that other Kronos project. Resuming old PVP server with the Nost database and PVE server(which had a much lower population than former PVP server) is more than enough imo to satisfy the majority of former nost players.

If there is no fresh server, new players who learned about Nost due to the shut down event will be more than glad to start a character on the former Nost server. But of course, if you offering a new server, everybody will want to start fresh.  It was even the case on retail. when Blizz annonced the opening of a new server, a lot of players left their former mature server to join that new server just  so they could follow the wave of new players all leveling together.

This is imo a nonsense and that decision will kill what many players from Nost wanted, which is to resume with the progression they had when Nost shut down. If there is no new players feeding on a regularly basis the old pvp server population (as it used to do in Nost time which contributed to keep Nost alive) it will die VERY QUICKLY.

Please, I beg you to reconsider that decision and think about all the negative effect it will cause to the former Nost community.  Only releasing both servers from old Nostalrius project is more than enough for the community.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Good point, hakoon. Problem is Nost can't have all players (it's really big number -  thank you Blizzard for advertising around Nostalrius and vanilla game) at only one (two with PvE) realm. Don't worry, mate. Nostalysium/Elystalrius ( good names for our new project, hm ;) ) have really, really large fan-boys than old, bad Kronass.. Kronass.. they and their business with characters and items.. they just make from our game their good busisness! Donť worry and enjoy game! ;)
