Why not open all 3 servers at the same time?

Recommended Posts

Just curious what the reasons are. Is it a question of logistics, manpower or design?

Do you wish you could open them simultaneously and simply lack the resources or do you purposefully release them a few weeks apart for other reasons?

I don't think anyone has actually said why. Or maybe I'm just new to the website and haven't found the explanations yet.

Personally I'd love just one server with 30k+ people but I think that is impossible.

Pretty sure if they opened them all at the same time there would be some serious bugs and issues. They probably want to hash those out instead of just slamming down 3 new servers at the same time. Although for a lot of us that would be ideal

This has been discussed already.

They had a choice about releasing all at once but delay the release OR release one server at a time and allow people to get back into the action sooner.

They went with the latter approach.

Also, I know you have never played on Nost before, because you wouldn't be saying you want a server with 30K on it. When the server went over 10k it became very difficult to play. Sure it was awsome, but resources such as herbs and ore were scarce and you had to play extra hard just to get the gold to combat the ever increasing inflation. Not to mention there is lag over 10k players online.

There will be caps this time round though, which is cool, aswell as an extra server to house all the players.

Because you need to tune the hardware for every server. It's not so easy. They install it from 0, because they use Nost core. So they need first to see how it will work pn new hardware.

So it's by necessity and not choice. That's what I was really asking.

Indeed, if it was as easy as 30 minutes I suspect a new server would be up.  Aside from man hours, cost, stress testing, etc etc, the way Elysium is doing the server means even more man hours to roll back the code to peel back content to a fresh release.  its not a huge task, but when we have volunteers working strickly on free time a 40 hour work week for one ends up taking 3 weeks.

When the server went over 10k it became very difficult to play.

Hell, when the server went over 7k it got really laggy.

Back when I played, server pop would dip down to 3k/4k at night, and it was fine. Would hover around 80-100ms. But during the day, especially on weekends, it'd shoot up above 7k and that 100ms would quickly become 1,000ms. There was 1-2 second delay on everything, even though the latency bar still showed 100ms. Was borderline unplayable.

I can't imagine playing at 10k+ online.

why lol ?

Just so the people who want the fresh server or PvE server (which from what I've read is the majority) don't have to wait. I don't got a problem waiting though because I see the reasoning for it

The hardware being used was the old hardware and we didn't crash. The lag is expected but that we didn't crash is even better. This hardware will likely be used on the PvE realm as it will have the least pop and should be sufficient for the time being.

On the 27th there will be a 2nd stress test on the NEW hardware. This is the stuff that will be used on the PvP servers.

1000 ms at 7k players? i got a few tips for you, change your ISP and buy a more expensive internet router thats ridiculous im from australia ( the worst connection on the planet) and my ms was 350 at 12k+ players, i only noticed lag around 12k. 7-10k was as smooth as honey dont bring up your фекал internet into the topic as if it matters to anyone else.

I read somewhere on the old Nost forums that they don't have the GMs/staff to handle three rapid releases. They also have to tune each server for the patch they are on, if they were all on the same patch version they could just clone the servers.
