Here come dat poll

  1. 1. If you could start playing today, would you care about server stability during the first weeks of gameplay?

    • Not at all. I would rather start playing now, even with issues.

    • Yes. I would rather wait a few weeks and have a stable server since day 1.
      67
  2. 2. If you decided to wait for official, stable launch, would you mind other players starting a few weeks before you?

    • No. Let them play. It will relieve starting zones stress.
      47
    • Yes. Everyone should start together. It's only fair.
      75
  3. 3. If your final destination is Elysium PvP or Nostalrius PvE, will you play in one of the open realms while you wait?

    • Yes. I will play wherever I can until my realm is available.
      67
    • No. I will wait for mine.

As far as I know, next Sunday we'll have another stress test. That means Nostalrius PvP will launch the 11th in the best case scenario. Now assuming there will only be one week between realm launches, that also means Elysium PvP will launch the 18th, and Nostalrius PvE the 25th.

Of course best case scenarios are unlikely, and we will probably have all realms open AFTER Christmas. There is no point in having people waiting for launch during the holidays only to open up right afterwards.

In my honest opinion, I think it would be a lot better to launch as soon as it is physically possible: next Monday or even today. I don't care about lag, disconnects, 2min rollbacks or any performance issues at all as long as I can start playing, and I assume lots of players feel the same way.

If you pre-launch now:

- Players who don't care about stability will be happy playing.

- Players who do care will simply wait a bit.

- In the meantime you'll get real stress results.

- Realms will work better on official launch date.

- Starting zones will not be crowded on launch date.

- We will be able to pick our realm now.

- People will not overcrowd 1st/2nd realm while waiting for 2nd/3rd to open.

If you wait:

- Players who don't care about stability will spend their Christmas moaning.

- Players who do care will simply wait a bit.

- You'll only get results on stress day.

- Unexpected issues may appear on launch date.

- Starting zones will be crowded and laggy.

- We will have to wait for our realm to open, while other people play.

- People will overcrowd the 1st/2nd realm while waiting for 2nd/3rd to open.

I see absolutely no reason for you to stall launch of all realms beyond next week. I honestly don't see how stalling would benefit anyone here. I'd say the smart move here would be to drop the "we will launch like this, on these dates, in this order, because that's the idea we have in our heads and we won't budge, regardless of how many petitions our community makes" mentality and consider all the things stated above.

After all, we know it's a private server and there will be issues. It's not like we will hate you or quit playing because of server stability during the first month. Go ahead and launch. You can do it.

You give a bone to a dog and it bites off your hand. Why the rush? I'm impatient to play my characters too (that demonic rune farm, hurr-durr), but I will wait up on the team to do their thing. May be they still have some merging stuff, configurations and tidbits to do. Also, in the last announcement they mentioned "...we will be having a 3rd and final test to confirm the coming improvements of this system to be production and launch ready." So they obviously have stuff to do before the re-launch.

I tell you what, why don't you try the next best thing while you wait: Diablo 2 had it's Ladder reset last week, I think.

Whatever stuff they need to do they can do while we play. Downtime is okay. Remember we are just testing but without losing our progress.

Here is my constructive Criticism if you don't mind:

On you last question , there is no Nost PVP which me and many others will wait for , the one who was populated with over 14k .

You have either pve or fresh pvp server without allowing people choose the old pvp :(

With the amount of new comers to the private server scene, a smooth launch is > than you tile jumping in main cities waiting for raid day.

I remember when Nostalrius had 2 minute roll backs on top of D/C's every 5-30 minutes for a couple weeks there. There were still over 8000 people playing consistently even with the disruptions.

All I care about is starting on the fresh PvP server.   I would happily play the PvP server today, even if I got disconnected every few minutes. I am sure there are at least 7999 other people that feel this same way.

On a side note, PvE servers are dumb. People that play PvE instead of PvP should just go play some classic single player RPG's on 1990's game consoles. That way we can save the third server for a year after the Elysium - PvP realm comes out, so that we can have another fresh start.

I can't stress enough that fresh  starts on PvP realms are what really make Vanilla shine.

I agree with you 100% bro, but just because we agree with each other doesn't mean everyone does.

Different strokes for different folks as the old saying goes.

I'm very impatient.  Very is an understatement.  However, we need to give them time to get this right.  Make it as perfect as possible so that there aren't many problems down the road.  Launch is going to be crazy, they want to make sure they can minimize the damage.

Hahaha is funny how ppl just talk about pvp and say pve is dumb, but if you tell they should go and play any Moba game instead they get offended or whatever, every one have a play style so do your things and let other do they things.

Anyway i don't care if i have to wait for the other realms to launch but, a lot of ppl that will play on the fresh pvp and pve are saying they will run in the old pvp cause they wanna play till the other realm are up, and i hope this don't became a problem for the old pvp realm "stability" for the time it take to open the other 2 realms.

TBH the only thing I care about is a smooth launch and a big enough heads up so that the people w/ jobs can request time off to go ham on the leveling :D

You say they wont lose anything with a quick release , let me put this into perspective for the exact same thing you are proposing , Hell-fire tbc server was hyped majorly had around 5000 people logon at release they had the idea of fixing things and testing things as we go along at first it wasn't a issue but there we're constant disconnects and restarts due to all the fixes , that server now has a population of 200 - 500 on peak even though it is close to perfect.

This practice has been tested and failed miserably , let them work out the problem fix it up and deliver a close to perfect polished product instead of pressuring the early release and then leaving the server because it will be "unplayable" as the population will most likely state.

Fresh servers aside, opening up Nost wouldn't be a problem even with server stability. Nostalrius players are far too accustomed to dealing with server instability. Not that Nost was unstable by any means! It was mostly up, but here and there it had some gnarly downs. At the least it'd be nice to try logging in and seeing if I can remember my credentials, let alone taking a peak at my hard work and maybe even being able to say hi to a few old friends.

Anyways, judging by the stress tests, it looks like the servers can handle a LOT. Plus, most Nost players are going to be logging into their old accounts, so the population isn't going to be as flooded in starting towns as it was on stress tests. Shrug. :) I F'in LOVE Vanilla WoW!

Www.realmplayers.com. hope that holds you over.

Haha it's just not the same though! xD

On a side note, I am not really interested in continuing my character on Nost, I really want to start fresh, but I am very excited to jump on my resto druid and go moonfire a bunch of low levels to death for hours on end when the server is up!

The only difference between PvP and PvE realms is that on the PvP realms, you are always tagged for PvP combat, outside of capitals and 1-10 zones. On PvE realms, you have to flag yourself for PvP combat.

The difference between Nostalrius PvP and Elysium PvP is that on the former, players can continue with their old characters, whereas on the latter everybody starts from level 1.

Honestly I highly doubt the servers will be a smooth launch there's gonna be issues and people are going to complain, but lets be serious no one is going anywhere. Nostalrius crashed and rolled back and got ddos'd and it was pretty rough for awhile but everyone endured through it because they love that nostalgic experience too much. Elysium is gonna be a mess on launch regardless of what happens I imagine the spawn rates of mobs wont be enough to accommodate the amount of people and regardless with that many the first three or so leveling zones are probably gonna lag like crazy no matter what they do. The best thing they can do is release nost and fresh start closely together so the population has more then one choice this will at least make it so not everyone is on the same server.

This is exactly how I feel. I know that I'm not going anywhere even if the server is utter фекал right off the bat. That can always be expected. They'll smooth things out as they go - there's no such thing as a perfect launch for a fandom server of this caliber.

I strongly agree with your idea of releasing Nost and Fresh closely together, if not at the same time. There's a strong core of players that want to continue Nost. Anyways, chances are people will end up balancing the server populations by swapping servers if they're not comfortable with the initial lag and/or the amassing people swarming every spawn point.

Early bird gets the worm. I plan on being the first one logged in so I can have free roam of the next zone ASAP. That will be the only way to rise level significantly faster than others - keeping ahead of the game, drinking a lot of coffee, and not sleeping for a week.
