Population Question

I know this may be a premature question, but does anyone have a rough idea of which server would best suit someone wanting to join a raiding guild thats on EST zone?  Any help would be appreciated.

Pretty sure all servers will have more than enough for raids in every time zone. Shouldn't be a problem.

If you don't like getting ganked when you level I probably wouldn't choose a PvP realm. Other than that I have no advice :/

Only 2 hours and 15 mins worth of raiding available on Fresh. Know that much. Unless, of course, you really enjoy UBRS.

it's likely all realms will have enough people to not worry about timezone

 

otherwise if your goal is jumping to the biggest raids faster the old realms have that option (pvp realm is much further in progression than pve)

 

and if you enjoy progression/growth of a new realm from scratch you will like fresh realm when it comes

From what i remember, PVP was guilds raided all the time there, You'll meet alot of EST Americans on Old Nost PVP i know the guild i was in was a sorta normal EST raiding guild, but there's going to be a фекал ton of people so you'll have a lot of options wherever you go.

Guilds should have their start times and days.   US guilds start anywhere from 7:00pm est and some start as late as 10:00pm est.   Find what times and dates you like and go for it.

strange way of looking at it given that getting to level 60 will most likely take several months, and most people don't complete every raid first try... not to mention there is PvP and dungeons among other things.

I think the question shouldn't be about population because it seems that won't be an issue, The question is what server will have the best community and from what I hear the fresh will have the worst community out of the three. These are opinions not facts so take them with a grain of salt.

So how did you figure fresh will have the worst? Because of all the hate mail received so far about releasing it so late?

 

I dunno, I think all will be somewhat equal, nost PVP will have more players and its more progressed, PVE is a little behind in terms of content and lower pop, and fresh, well fresh you only have UBRS and MC at first.

 

As far as fresh goes, if your clued in and know vanilla and can level fast, alot of people will also be the same, so you wont be the only level 60 knockin around the village. Find a guild with the same type of players as your self and clear some content.

I work 70 hours a week and even at 3 hours a day and playing sub optimal classes... I've never taken 3 months to level. Usually I can get in 1.5 easily. You are also discounting the fact that those first two raids are intro. The only reason to run them is for tank loot and Rag/Ony items. PvP can be interesting if you don't end up on the full scrub faction and dungeons are what you do to prepare for raids. Presumably, if you're in raids... You've completed the 5 man content outside Righteous Orbs and other mats.

Thanks to everyone for their input.  I believe my concerns have been addressed. Basically wanted to know if there was a preferred server for NA EST, specifically for raiding, that i needed to be aware of.  But from the looks of it, I should be able to get off to a good start for raiding on any of the servers.  Thanks again =D

right so if you need to do dungeons in order to raids, why does the dungeon stuff not count as content in your eyes?

You sound very cynical.I am just here to enjoy myself as are most people, there is plenty of content, the game is massive.

According to google trends, the search rate for Nostalrius was tripled after the announcement of deactivating their servers & J. Allen Brack response on the official wow forums.

Taking that into consideration, you could expect up to x3 more players than before the shutdown announcement.

I don't think you could put a direct correlation to it but google trends does give you an idea of "interest". I anticipate more players for sure but we have 3 servers instead of just 2. Will be fun to see how it all pans out.

If they don't even plan this minor level of investment than it will not matter which server because it will be established before the 3 month mark and it's legends decided. So after that 2.5 months, all content is on farm for 4.5 months. That's the lull of fresh starts. Loot doesn't really matter that much, but learning and wiping and comradery is what I'm after. Can't do that in the earliest content.

Someone also posted a google doc that shows the location of confirmed guilds, but I can't for the life of me remember which thread. Late night browsing... That may help you narrow down a specific one based on selection of NA guilds.

Unless he powers straight through the leveling process, those guilds may not have openings by the time he's ready. The guild he will settle into probably has yet to be created.
