I poke around on the retail forums still sometimes because it's often good for a chuckle or two. 

 

Today I saw someone had posted a hype thread for Nost relaunch. Of course I expected exactly what was in it. People calling us thieves, down voting anyone who remotely seemed like they might be supporting it, claiming how the game is so much better now and that progression is better than regression. You know the drill. 

 

The topic was deleted, of course. 

 

THE VERY NEXT THREAD I clicked was (a highly up voted) thread about how the game has gone downhill, and several comments talking about how much better it used to be were voted highly also. 

It cracked me up. It's like exactly the opposite of what Blizz said when they told us we think we do but we don't. 

 

Their brainwashed sheep don't think they do, but they do. Rather, they want the good parts of the early game without sacrificing any of their luxuries. 

 

Anyway, gave me a chuckle.

He's still not wrong. The majority of people STILL PLAYING modern wow wouldn't enjoy vanilla. A huge chunk of them started post-wrath and would ваууing hate the game, i'm sure you know a special snowflake or two whose different but their current playerbase would not enjoy vanilla much.

It's like learning the opposing faction's gibberish all over again.

Oh definitely. Many would hate Vanilla, but they also aren't happy with the current one. But I get it. it's the way the game is designed. People who don't know any better feel like they HAVE to play it because "what if it gets better and then I'm way behind?"

lol They make me laugh. I specifically look for certain types of threads. The MMO-Champ forums are funny when they have a contest. All the salt from people who get mad at people making accounts just to enter the contest. They feel like they have more right to win since they've had an account longer.

MMO-C class subforums are fine

 

but the "general" forum is pretty much the same as the official forums: nothing but crying and whining and internet slap-fights over every single WoW-related topic.

I play retail and vanilla.

 

Just, I tend to play retail on and off, because the content is so quick and easy to clear, then there's nothing to do while waiting for the next content release. So I usually just clear the current raid on Heroic 2-3 times and then let my sub run out until the next patch drops.

Just, I tend to play retail on and off, because the content is so quick and easy to clear, then there's nothing to do while waiting for the next content release. So I usually just clear the current raid on Heroic 2-3 times and then let my sub run out until the next patch drops.

You missed the special snowflake bit huh? I do the same and I think it's just important to realize that modern wow and pre-cata wow are just vastly different games. Modern WoW is not even a bad game at all but you're spot on with the content, you jump in for a month then leave tell the next patch unless your a mythic grinder. There's not anything wrong with that really.

It really depends on mileage and personal resistance to stupidity. I accidentally stumbled upon one thread couple of days ago while I was in the bus. Give me so much laugh.

I would assume given that Cataclysm came out 6 years ago this week, the vast majority of retail WoW players joined after Cataclysm launched and have no experience or knowledge of the pre-cata game. So they probably don't get why people like vanilla - even if those players are unhappy with the current game, that doesn't mean they have played pre-cata.
