Tubbylul 1 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) Hey! I am a vanilla veteran.. but I have never been around @ a server release.. I know that mobs will be near impossible to kill... So my weird question is.. has someone written a guide on how to explore lvl? I would be very interested if someone has! I can not see myself being able to kill mobs with 100-200 people @ the same spot. So I would not mind spending one hour running to gather XP from exploration if possible! (I will play Alliance, and I will start @ Dwarf + Gnome starting zone)!! All information surrounding exploration / leveling without killing mobs would be much appreciated! Maybe there is a map/addon that shows where I need to go to get explore XP? etc If there is a previous post like this on this forum I have missed it.. no clue where to look for guides like this.. I tried google and youtube but I had no luck finding anything. Just fyi for people thinking this topic is stupid, I know that leveling like this is possible. I just do not know where to go for the most efficient XP gain. Edit: I decided to edit my post the day before Elysium PvP release since I saw the video I have been looking for, and I am sure it will help many other gnomes and dwarfs! For all the Human alliance / horde, you will find a lot off information throughout this entire thread. Dwarf n Gnomes, this one is for you! We deserve some loving as well. The video is made by Tribe, I saw you bumped your post so trying to give you a hand:https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/30532-level-1-5-in-50-minutes-fresh-server-exploration-guide/ Edited January 6, 2017 by Tubbylul Great video found

Bonappetit 2 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Back on Nostalrius it took me more then 10 hours to get out of the first zone. Your idea doesn't sound bad at all to be honest.
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Yeah or even just explore zones for exp that way so you can then grind higher level mobs. Will be faster than the 10 hours to level 6 it took me on Nost.
Frisco 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 I'm not sure if you can level at all without killing anything, at some point you'll have to kill mobs. Even with good leveling guides, you often still have to grind mobs for half a level or so...
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 @Frisco it isn't hard to reach level 6-in about 2.5 hours of exploring. + you will already have some flight paths opened up.
Kralomax 1 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 I kinda planned on just farming mobs and not questing for about a week off and on. I can not stand waiting for a mob to pop up with 30 people. I would love some kind of exploring guide myself...with a story involved around the lore. Probably to make it more bearable, you could RP. /shrug I kinda planned on just farming mobs and not questing for about a week off and on. I can not stand waiting for a mob to pop up with 30 people. I don't remember having flight paths opened up until I ran to them. This is vanilla, you don't just get flight paths like we had for the stress test. You'll have to actually run to each flight path and discover it.

Everquest 7 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) I've made a video about this today actually. https://youtu.be/5s-eiUWYkps if you're starting as a dwarf run out to Kharanos. set your heartstone there. take the tram to Stormwind, do the 3 quests in Stormwind run to Goldshire, run a circle in Elwynn Forest to pick up most of the exploration exp. run to Westfall, Sentinel Hill use your hearthstone You should now be level 3, which is enough to start killing level 6's in Dun Morogh if you group up with a friend. If you're solo or want to quest in Teldrassil instead (also depends on your class because of available trainers) run east and take the south tunnel to Loch Modan run through wetlands with a few tactical deaths take the boat to auberdine and another boat to teldrassil You'll be level 4 when you arrive in Dolanaar plenty of quests for you there that you can solo at level 4. the whole run will take you just over an hour. you pick up many flight paths on the way, so your time isn't wasted most night elves will still be questing in Shadowglen by then. Check my video for the exact exploration exp locations. Edited December 15, 2016 by Everquest
WonderBread 4 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 (edited) Exploration xp is terrible. If teleport hacks were allowed then yea, go for it, but since they aren't, 1 mob kill = 1 exploration. At lvl 1 you can kill lvl 5s (especially with 1 other person) it'll just be infinitely faster than exploration xp. Levels 1-6 shouldnt be more than 1 hour 15 minutes if you know what your doing. It will be hard to tag any mobs for consistent xp. I say exploring is a good idea if you're going to be starting fresh. Even if it's slightly slower than waiting on mob respawn and hoping for the first hit, it will speed you up in the long run with FP's unlocked.
WonderBread 4 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Of course I'm factoring in the thousands of players during launch.
Demonthese 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Sounds like a good plan. Exploring for XP while getting flight paths might not be ideal lvling but will at least be something if the starting zones are overflowing

Yes this is true. Get the flight paths you need and pick up some kind of gathering professions like herbalism or mining and snag those things where possible while wandering around like a lost explorer seeking riches and fame Edited January 2, 2017 by Faith
Mealticket 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 It's very interesting that you guys glazed right over 2 separate people saying it took 10 hours to leave the starting area. 2.5 is 1/4 that time and could put you into the bleeding edge and with enough free time, you could stay there.
Papajimboh 12 Report post Posted December 16, 2016 My plan is to run around grabbing flight paths, go to the city and grab professions, and just run all over the back 40 and get whatever exp I stumble across until I decide to get back on track.

Exactly, can then hearth back and then run away from newbie zone and grind level 6-8 mobs in a corner somewhere. This is how you get ahead of the pack and if you can stay ahead, will decrease your leveling time by up to 20-30 hours easy.
Fightmilk 0 Report post Posted December 16, 2016 I am planning on exploring the first bunch of lvls also but im a bit about getting some silver. Those Stormwind quests only give a few coppers. With those coppers though.... buy a fishing pole. If there is nothing to kill for loot, you could get some silver from fishing. Or be the first to run to a treasure chest. (highly unlikely) But you never know. With some help you could have a friend do a run by while you grab the loot. Or give it your best shot at the STV arena. Someone is gonna be the lucky winner there.
