elystzep 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Given the anticipated influx of players on the soon-released Elysium PvP server, I'm curious as to what the reasoning is for opting for one individual 'mega' server? Presumably this server is going to be overpopulated from the get-go (and I'd suggest this will be the case for a long time, queues etc) Would it not be feasible (albeit not desirable for some players who like a very populated server) to perhaps opt for 2 new Fresh PvP servers? I would expect that there would inevitably be an even distribution of players on both (and that both would be high population so as to not end up having 2 underpopulated servers) Assuming yes, what would the primary concerns be for the Elysium/Nostalrius team? *Financial (additional hardware/running costs)? *Staff Demand? *Infeasible (i.e any other reason?)? *All of the above? -----Otherwise------ Is this something that could perhaps be implemented on a later date (by way of allowing server transfers)? ---------------------- Finally: Would it be possible for a staff member of the Nost/Elysium team to contact me regarding infrastructure costs? Thanks
Enhancement 12 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 One fresh server is a good thing. Multiple would not be. We don't need to spread the population out too much.

Crowley 8 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Ideally they would maybe make 2 new servers, launch at the same time to ligthen the load and that would allow you to merge them later on if needed. But realistically we need to just keep our fingers crossed and hope the 3 can be maintained. I'm sure things will find some sort of balance sooner or later.
Jeetee 2 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Because servers cost money. Keep in mind these expensive operations are being provided to you at no cost. Not to mention the time being donated by the team. Edited January 4, 2017 by Jeetee

You could offer your help and money to Elysium. As stated above. This costs you nothing and the team doing it are doing it for us, for free. I'm just happy that they are putting up one new and fresh server. Looking forward to it.
arbet 9 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) It costs a lot to run an additional server, and these guys do not make profit... 3 servers means cap of over 25,000 players at once which honestly I would think will be fine. Let's see how it goes, things will settle down soon. No point in splitting the community more than necessary. Bear in mind this was only meant to be a return for Nostalrius, the fresh server is like a bonus. :) Edited January 4, 2017 by arbet
Stormhart 12 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 I don't think it will be that drastic. Give it a month and the hype will probably die out a bit. Perhaps I am less concerned, because I play when it's not busy. In the long run I don't think it's worth the time and money (even with community support) too open a second fresh realm.

dariobs 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 i'm glad there is just a new server PvP, i honestly think that they are more realistic in what is all about "a world in fight is all about" without stop the fact that we can do PvE.
Sundanc_r 19 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 maybe more will come. but the cost and manpower the service requires shall not be underestimated
Geex 3 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 the costs would be no problem. theres so many ppl. they got the cash instantly and im sure with another 1000€ per month it also would be no problem. why you think the population will go down?! look at old nost. the numbers got higher and higher even after one year... yay 10 time more ppl than blizzlike and 5 time more ppl than it would be healthy. a populatin that high just supports the toxic in community. its like retail where you have ppl from all servers playing with you. nobody will remember a ninjalooter when there are 12k+ ppl online all the time! economy gets damaged too. world pvp is too much cuz you will fight every 5min. farming will be shiet too.
WonderBread 4 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 (edited) TBH, the only issue I see, is staffing more than one server. I think there are plenty of people here that would throw money at a second or even third fresh release just to reduce the aids/queues/etc, and I don't see any issues at all bringing in 1 or 2 more servers in (depending on # of people ofc) that is specifically there for a month and then is stated and known that it would merge with the other fresh start servers.(Unless population is nuts) Use the same name database or w/e across the servers so that that won't even be an issue once the merge takes place. Again, I don't see any issue with this other than staffing each additional server. It would reduce load, lag, queues, make lvling less-aids, etc. Edited January 5, 2017 by WonderBread
