Absolutely ingenious can't wait for you guys to add .bg like you had on your old servers. And the servers went back down right after they announced .wr off in chat, too. 3 hour maintenance turned into 7 hours because of this stupid little crap that annoyed a few people.

When I started playing I was convinced I'd make monthly donations, but since then, I have lost all intentions of supporting these guys. Server crashes often enough without them intentionally turning a 3-hour maintenance period into a 7 hour one, then lying to us about "the maintenance going well".

 

You want to serve the community? Turn the servers on. Stop implementing half baked ideas before it goes past the test realms in 100% working order.

Of course people will stop complaining about a feature they're no longer using. At the same time, anyone still complaining about whisper spam will be promptly reminded by easily impressed forum shills that the solution is already implemented and they just have to turn it on, it's so easy!

The fact is that this changes nothing. Spammers are not prevented from spamming. Users are not protected from spam unless they completely deafen themselves. This "solution" aggressively stamps out symptoms with no regard for side effects and without treating underlying causes. The only redeeming quality of this procedure is that you can say no. As a player you should be concerned about what part of the game Elysium will offer you to opt out of next.

 

If there's a hull breach you need to repair the holes leaking water into your ship. All your passengers are suffering from wet socks and some of them are worried, and you just told them that they don't have to enter the flooded cabins if they don't want to. You've made it your policy to NOT prevent water from entering your ship, even if your passengers get drenched and your volunteer crewmates have to mop up puddles around the breaches daily. You say water isn't even the problem.

The St. Elysium urgently needs to adopt waterproofing for her hull before she sets out to sea, even if the captain has to eat some of his words in order to do it. In the end his duty is aboard, and angry voices on the mainland should not discourage him from making the practical adjustments needed for his massive ship to sail safely and calmly for years to come.

tl;dr St. Elysium is fixing its hull, in addition to giving its passengers alternative cabins to sleep in instead of their flooded cabins

 

This is obviously not their "it's fixed, no more focusing on it!" solution. It is a temporary fix for people who are annoyed by constant spam.
