So much for elysium VANILA !

Recommended Posts

I just noticed something interesting after waiting for 3 hours in queue I created my hunter reach lvl 5 and I found out that all corpses of animals vanish 10 seconds after they are looted which ruins leatherworking leveling :( Guess this is done to lighten the server load ?

Mob spawns are on a dynamic respawn rate, because the server has a much higher concurrent population than Blizzard ones did. So when there are lots of people playing, mobs will respawn much faster. And that means corpses disappear quicker.

Would you really prefer the original spawn rates when there are 2000 people in one zone?

I believe its because of dynamic respawn timer, if a creature is respawned there can no longer be its corpse on the groung.

Could be wrong though

I'm sure that's the reason yes. And it's not just after they been looted. When fighting 2 enemies, you better loot the first one right after it drops dead, because it will disappear before you managed to kill the 2nd one. With or without you looting it.

oh come on Dragunov88... don't be like that.

Those changes are needed to be able to have 10k players online playing and enjoying the game.

It won't stay this way. As soon as they can change it back to normal, they will.

Yeah no shit it's a custom server... they built their own server, it's not a blizzard server.

It can handle 5x the player count of blizzard servers and they have to adjust certain points in game to account for that and still make it playable.

It uses the vanilla client and it's closer to the vanilla experience than any other vanilla server out there..

true, but youd need 5 servers of vanillas server capacity to replace one of the current

I had enough time to loot and skin my own mobs, but yeah, skinning after someone else takes some skill. Anyway, after first wave will pass starting area, respawn rate will fall back to normal.

You have about a 20 second window after you kill a mob to loot and skin it. I've skinned my mobs as well as other people's mobs with no issue what so ever.

Not entirely true, people rarely pull 1 mob at a time. most of the time 2-3 if capable of doing so. Generally you can't skin all 3 mobs, as once you kill one, the others hitting you interupts the skinning, so you have to seriously diminish your own levelling capabilities to be able to skin.

I wish they had the same fast respawn of lootable items. :D Fun when you have a quest item and there's only one on a 2-3 minute respawn and there are over a thousand people who need it at the same time. lol

Trust me when I say it is much better this way. Sometimes it is better to go for the "feeling" of Vanilla than it is to be exact in every way. This means at times they have to make such changes to better suit the server.

Boi

The server is running 1.12 patch with 1.4 itemization and 1.2 content

It's already "custom"

Also, blizzlike does not mean "exact carbon copy of vanilla servers".

it means "its a little bit like blizzards servers were", lol

thats what they agreed to answer on this.

in the end its just a trickery excuse for not reaching the goal.

but im ok with minor changes, what counts it the resulting feeling

"Blizzlike" is the opposite of "Funserver"

Funservers are not trying to be like official servers, they're full of custom content, different XP rates, all sorts of things that never happened on blizzard servers.

Blizzlike servers are trying to be LIKE blizzard servers. Not exact copies, but similar. If a majority of the server is similar to Blizzard servers, it is "blizzlike".

Pretty much this.

Blizzlike usually refers to the rates of the server (1x exp, 1x gold, 1x loot) as opposed to Funserver that are like Instant 60, 100g drop per mob, vendor with free items etc.  Back when these private servers started popping up 8 or 9 years ago in mass, the only way to differentiate servers (if it was a legit server with normal leveling speed and somewhat copy of retail, or if it had increased rates, overly involved GMs, custom items etc.) was to quickly label it "Blizzlike" or "Funserver". There used to be server lists of like 100's of private servers to choose from, so you'd have to sort them by "Blizzlike" to find one that fit your personal interests.

Blizzlike does NOT mean everything on the server is exactly the same as it was on retail. It's more or less influenced by how it was and tries to mimic the same "feeling" or "experience" that retail offered, but it will never be completely BLIZZLIKE. There will always be quality of life changes (Like 5x the retail population for a more interactive and alive world, or increased hp/dmg tables on raids to raise the difficulty to mimic the struggles we had in retail as shitter pallys wearing full T1 thinking that was best gear to raid with etc.) or technical changes that can't simply just be how it was (like corpse decaying 10-20 seconds after dead to make the server playable with this population).

On a side note... I haven't really had any problems with skinning all my mobs. The only time I did was when I killed 4-5 mobs at once, and didn't loot any. By the time my last mob died, the first was despawning. However that was my fault because theres no reason I couldn't take 1 second to shift + right click the corpse, then right click it again to skin it.

5x more population is in no way a quality of life improvement, as the game itself was majorly made to work around the population limit of each realm, and increased spawns are relatively similar to increased rates. Neither of these two things are certainly bad things, but the blizzlike meme should have died out ages ago.
