The War Effort Reborn

Recommended Posts

we-reborn.jpg

First off, thank you to all the Players who have been turning in Materials. At this time almost 5.5 MILLION Materials have been turned in since we launched the War Effort. A shout out to the horde for finishing a turn in by completing 850 Thousand Rugged Leather in about 4 days!

When setting the goals of the War Effort, we wanted a challenging yet achievable event, something that brought players together both within and across the factions. The War Effort was not about turning in a large amount of Materials, it is about the spirit of cooperation between factions that are often in open war with each other. Having Guilds and Factions working together to complete a goal to unlock a new Raid was the desire. So while a large amount of our players have contributed to the Effort, an equally large number would prefer to keep their stored materials or sell them on the Auction House at inflated prices while waiting for the event to be auto-completed.

We will not be auto-completing the event, or lowering the required materials as that goes against the philosophy of the event.

However, it’s in nobody’s interests for the war effort to continue beyond the stated 3-4 weeks in our original post. So, over the coming two weeks we will be challenging the community to come together in a unique way to participate in an in-game event that will greatly help in completing the war effort.  This event will be designed to foster working together, and put a hard cap on how long the war effort will take to complete that is far more in line with our original timeline. It might be time to put down your gardening and mining gloves and pick up your swords.

“Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?”

UPDATE:

Dear players!

Thank you for your valuable and active feedback. As you know, the Elysium team is always ready and willing to listen to you and acknowledge if we were wrong. After receiving your feedback, we've decided to change our plans on War Effort and go back to Blizzlike philosophy. We'll recalculate the resource requirements, taking into account any changes due to reduced number of players. Bear in mind: we also want to see the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj open as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Elysium Staff

fun server

Fun servers are ones where you get free gear or gear with very little effort. This is just a custom content event since NOBODY wants to farm hundreds of thousands of fish/firebloom/raptors.

This makes no sense, is this event going to give us materials that are BOP? Or can I get a shit load of mats, and save them.  I need answers here.

This is a terrible and horrid idea. "Because y'all couldn't complete our first piece of  custom content, here is even MORE custom content". Just lower the required materials to a more blizzlike number.

I agree that this is a better way to go about it.

I know you want to make the event special and all, but that's what the gate opening event is for. Just make sure everything for that event (It's like a 16 hour war right?) works.

You're asking a 3k pop to farm materials for 10k pop. I would rather see the problem solved by adjusting the amount instead of custom events. Just focus on AQ and the quest chain etc.

Unless you start offering flasks for turn ins there's no way in hell people are gonna fish half a million rainbow fin.

We will not be auto-completing the event,

But you will use an event, to complete it?

Lower the mats required, please.

Lol i was literally saying that in TS when i refreshed and saw this.  It's like ED all over again.

Why is every private server so obsessed with making these absurd war effort numbers? Yeah ED all over again for sure. The custom event probably will give a good push I assume but I still don't understand why they didn't just lower the amounts. That's what the community would have wanted I think.

But tons of materials were sitting on tons of alts from guilds like Dreamstate and Nope. The numbers were based on that.

To my knowledge both guilds have gone full emo and have either deleted their war efforts mats or just refuse to turn them in.

What you need to understand is that for majority of stockpiled mats is players who have no incentive for turning them in. The same reasoning was used on ED where they for some stupid reason assumed that every player would turn in mats to the war effort. It seems we are living in a fantasy world here, do you honestly believe that everyone turned in materials in retail? Some servers took many months and needed artificial boost.

They fucked up and should have tuned down the War Effort IMO. Yes it should have been bigger than retail War Effort, but this War Effort amount was just.. Take a look at the world, even if all the rich people could end starvation and war does it look like they've done that =) ? The players are humans, not AI's playing farming simulator.

EDIT: You think 1,5 million copper and 400k firebloom are based on what some guild hoarded? I have no words.. Donald Trump is probaby less delusional.

Okay, so this was exactly the type of thing I hoped you wouldn't do. Just lower the damn mat requirements.

But in all honestly I dont care what it is just as long as it finishes the war effort.

I mean I'll take the war effort being done in 1 month, but really what are we gonna do? Fight a boss that auto deposits 20,000 firebloom at a time on a kill?

I really wish they would just tell us what they have in mind.  But in the meantime, let's speculate:

Bosses spawn in certain zones that need 20+ players to kill.  Every time a boss dies, the war effort completes 0.5%

Why are you stubborn about lowering the required materials? Do you not want to admit you made a mistake or something, I really don't know why you think making a custom event is a better way of dealing with this screwed up war effort.

Is it too hard to revert/ change the war effort numbers? That'd be the only way for this decision to make some sense in my eyes.
