I do not get that. Shouldn't the fresh realm be almost the exact same like the old Nost server after couple weeks or months?

In 3-5 Months this would be the case for the most, yeah.

Thank you for confirming. Therefore I am not sure if this thread is just a "hate" thread or is there more reason behind this ...

Don't see why this is a hate thread. most of the points are fairly valid. After that it depends on what the player wants, obviously.

I will personally continue with leveling my characters on the old Nost server.

As to what the aims of the OP are with this thread.... I can only speculate on that. ;)

I was generally asking if there will always be a huge difference between old Nost server and fresh Elysium server. As Draegon stated, it won't. The timeline is more or less irrelevant. But thank you for pointing it out :)

I'm not sure how instances being closed is a negative.  It's a progression server..that's the whole idea.  Also, I have a hard time with the concept of finding my enjoyment through comparing what I have to what someone else has.  I know it's a popular concept.  The absence of hardcore guilds makes no difference to me.

The list is a nice idea.  Include PvE realm if we want to talk about the options people have as opposed to a personal approach on what is important to yourself.

  • Full of random players from retail and other Private servers that just jumps on the banwagonn because Nostalrius got so big after shut down.

Nostalrius was full of random players from other private servers and players from retail. Before Nostalrius popped up our private server community core played on Feenix for 5+ years. The majority of Nostalrius players were "bandwagoners" as you call them.

  • No legendarys
  • AV - Closed
  • DM - Closed
  • ZG - Closed
  • AQ - Closed
  • Naxx - Closed

This isn't a Con to those that like to have a fresh server. The entire purpose of an MMORPG is character progression and development. It has become a bit cliche at this point, it IS truly about the journey. Having this was a selling point to the first time Nostalrius launched.

  • Horrible itemization mage Tier 1 for example is useless
  • Horrible Loot tables
  • Alot of quests missing in the world such as Thorium point in Searing gorge got no quests
  • 8 Debuff slots

Again, as above, these were SELLING POINTS for Nostalrius. I cannot fathom how these can be cons. For 3-5 years we BEGGED private server developers to create these Blizzlike progression timelines in order to emulate the gear, item, and quest progression. These are exactly the same as the Nostalrius server.

  • Lagging behind in development due too more focus on the Old server.

The servers work off of the exact same core. Development on either server will indirectly develop the other. The only difference is timelines. There is no "focus" on one server because it is the same project, on the same code, and on the same scripting base.

In the end friend, this is obviously you simply worried about the population on the Nostalrius PvP server, and you have decided to come on these forums and spout of bias and opinions hoping to drive people away from the fresh server.

Both servers will be fine with population; however, the fresh server will always draw more attention until the next shift in the ideology of the private server community. For years, most likely before you started playing on these servers, all we had was Feenix with every encounter unlocked. We grew tired of this fast and craved fresh servers where we could experience the journey together as a community.

Everyone enjoys a different style of play, and that's what makes this community amazing and unique. There is no reason to try to push people to enjoy what you do.

Most of your negatives are actually positives for players. This thread seems more intended to create some kind of riot, rather than list good points. What you're saying about loot isn't correct either, because guilds on the old server were actually selling boss drops because they already had it on farm status, just sharding drops every week. Ony for example (Viskag), you could buy anything off this boss, on Nost. Many guilds posted for this every day. They'd literally piggyback you for the boss kill, then if what you wanted drops, they'd sell it to you. It doesn't matter how bad geared you are, they have a raid full of purple clad raiders that do T2 content. On the new server however, no one will have фекал, and everyone will need everything.

Fresh start is always better. I would start over and over for that special kind of magic feeling.

there is fair possibility that the poster of this thread is someone with an epic char who is really insecure about the fact that they may not be able to wreck thousands of newbie non-geared players, because they will most likely start on the fresh realm :D

How it is less chance to get those weapons on Nost PVP. Competitive guilds have a lot of those already, we gave 3 Vis'Kag to tanks before shut down to use for 5mans, solo/farming/threat when rage starved.

All our dps had one. People who never got past rank 3 PvP standing were given BRE and "as scandy".

Your list of facts are entwined with bias ideology.

My Hunter had dibs on a Spinal Reaper. But the damn thing never dropped. No one else in the guild cared about the thing, and the 1 Arms Warrior in our raid nights already had a Bonereaver. I was going to use the thing to farm and chop at Alliance in BGs.

I'd say that the huge population of Nost was a pro and a con.

Pro, in that it's super easy to find groups for anything, and the realm feels super-alive with every single zone highly populated. Strong economy, lots of people farming for items and thus the AH is always bountiful.

Con, in that world PvP was a fücking nightmare of ganking; every contested zone was a huge gankfest. Farming for herbs/ore was also hard due to tons of competition. On top of those, the high population caused insane lag / latency for anyone outside of Europe. Even with 8k online, there was a 1-2 sec delay on everything. Can't imagine what it was like with 12k online.

This the kind of stuff new people need to hear and consider.
