Are bear tanks / prot paladins viable for solo-grinding in dungeons!?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I am curious, has anyone of you rolled a bear tank or prot paladin and ran soloing instances with 60?

Speaking in terms of what is better, frost mage or any of these two classes. Mainly because of self-heal.

What's your experience so far?

I am looking forward to your reply.

The one example I always give is starting at level 32 my feral druid has been able to enter RFK and stealth right up to the last boss in 2-3 minutes and solo it. Frost mage, is... well frost mage. Totally different way you would approach things. At 60 on old Nost my druid would team with either 2 rogues or a resto druid and we would farm key gems in LBRS by sneaking directly to the bosses. Not to much experience pally farming, but the stealth aspect of a druid is nice for skipping stuff you don't want.

Oh no... Another one... Dru/Pala tank is only usable for 5men instances. If you wanna join raids as tank - reroll warrior.

Prot Paladin is best for soloing instances, it have Heals, big AOE , good return damage and nice surviving , not speaking about Raids.

Appreciate the insights - feel free to give more input. I've been playing rogue back in vanilla, no tanks and I/we didnt farm for gold back there, we straight raided. So it's interesting what you have to share

I recently farmed General Angerforge in BRD with a lvl 58 rogue friend without problems. I was surprised what you can achieve as druid tank.

If you have some gear (Warden Staff, Cloak with high armor, rings/trinkets with armor) then you have around 35% damage reduction in caster form. Add Barkskin to that (20%) and you wear plate and are 15 secs immune to spellpushback. There are many situation, where you can shift out at ~50% life, heal with Healing Touch, Regrowth and Rejuvenation and switch to bear form with 2 HoTs ticking. Innervate allows for a second repeat.

I also farmed Roccor alone when I hit lvl 60 and had pathetic gear. For the trinket recipe, of course ;)

Btw, if you are around lvl 45, try to do the Centaur Pariah quest in Maraudon for Mark of the Chosen. It's great for farming and soloing stuff, especially for druid and paladin.

Which instances?  Are you going for bosses or just killing elites or both?

Depend when and where , but with good Gear , both things are possible to do easy even as high end 5 mans.

"soloing instances" ? Which ones?

The only instance that gets commonly soloed for gold farming is Maraudon, and you're best off using a Hunter or Warlock for that.
