Multiboxing questions

So I'm aware that multi-boxing is allowed and has been for awhile, only for the correct uses. Such as buffing your character, trading items, having a bank toon, etc.

My question is, whats the best way to go about this? I would love to roll a new toon and jump on my mage and give him AI, and then go out questing on said new toon.

What program would you recommend? I've searched on google and I've seen a few programs and each has a specific way that it allows you to open both accounts. Is one better then the other?

I'm not trying to do anything against the ToS and ToU, so no /follow and questing, no botting, nothing like that. Just want to be able to give myself buffs on multiple characters.

You don't need any programs. Just run WoW in windowed mode and alt tab between them (assuming you're following the ToU regarding where you're doing this). If you double click WoW.exe again, it will open a new window.

Just for clarification, it is still against the Terms of Use if you have one toon inside a city, and one toon outside. The only time multiboxing is acceptable is when both are in a major city.

Correct, I would just log in on my mage, buff my alt, and then log the mage out. Thank you.

I've seen at least 6 people 'multiboxing' in the past few days. Level 20 or so characters with their 60 mains riding on their back, tabbing in and out at will. is that not against the rules?

 

It's honestly better to state all forms of multiboxing are disallowed so you don't have to nitpick these case by case and create a huge inconvenience for yourselves. It also makes it extremely easy for those knowingly breaking the rules to lie and act as if it was a grey area if a GM were to confront them, to pretend as if they didn't know, or weren't doing anything wrong.

Sorry to butt in, but it's just hard to discern the reasoning for this decision.

most people dont know this rule and think its 1 can be anywhere aslong as the other is in a city. i think it was like that on old nostalrius but it will suck if people get banned for that

Why dont you make it like nost? Allow one char to be at city regardless of the other?

On Nostalrius you couldn't have another char outside major city either so stop spreading BS. It has always been the same both characters need to be in major city. Actually Elysium made allready exeption to have both toons in goblin city and transforming gold between factions.
