jcochran 1 Report post Posted June 6, 2017 In the past couple of days I've encounter what I could only consider griefing by our own faction. And I'd like to understand the mindset behind such people. Some examples: Doing the escort quest of the Defias Traitor in Westfall. Seems some nelf hunter likes to shadowmeld in the inn that the traitor passes by. I assume said hunter uses track humanoids. When the Defias Traitor is close enough, the hunter body aggros the defias inside the inn, runs outside to the traitor who of course aggros and starts attacking. Then the hunter feigns death to drop aggo leaving the players escorting facing a mass of NPCs all attacking the traitor they're escorting, and likely having the escort fail because of that hunter. Another example: I was in the Master's Glaive clearing the mobs prior to starting the escort quest. A druid runs in, initiates the escort before I could, then immediately logs off. Thereby preventing me from doing the escort and rendering the clear of the area I had just done worthless since the killed mobs are going to respawn before the quest NPC. There are more examples, but I think you get the gist. Why do people do stuff like this, and is there anything we can do in recourse?
MacFierce 4 Report post Posted June 6, 2017 I always find it amusing when Stitches winds up in Sentinel Hill and murders everyone. But i suppose that could be an act of terrorism started by either faction. It's the wild west man. You gotta expect griefing from every angle. Must say though, the folks i've met in the world and grouped with so far (I have a 19 mage, 16 lock, 16 priest, 12 rogue) have all been really awesome so far.
mytchi3 1 Report post Posted June 7, 2017 Some people just find it enjoyable to watch other people get rekt. For example if you walk down the street and see someone trip and end facedown in dog shit you laugh right??? Now these players are that shit and make people trip intentionaly
Myllz 8 Report post Posted June 7, 2017 Second one may have been unintentional, maybe he DC'd or something. First one is a dick move, but who knows, maybe he's primarily a Horde player and just leveled up a little bit on Alliance to grief.
petroix 4 Report post Posted June 7, 2017 I played on many servers and expansions back in the days (tbc, wotlk, cata) on retail too, but when I tried vanilla for the first time, both Nostalrius and Elysium.. I have never seen so much hate, harassment and malignancy. I thought vanilla would be a great and mature experience but it looks like there are tons of retarded kids, who loves to ruin the game for others. I met some nice people ofc, but still I'm disgusted anyway.

Aedi 3 Report post Posted June 7, 2017 You are playing on a FREE PvP server. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
AkamaiOkole 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Try Project 1999 (Everquest capped at 2nd expansion) red (pvp) server sometime. Those guys make the griefers here seem like angels.

Gnog 1 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Elysium has a very large number of good natured and friendly players. More than enough to fill an entire friends list. And it's also easy to overestimate the number of scumbags on the server, because they are much more memorable than the good people. Also the griefing you described isn't that bad.... Try taming Lupos
Ragingducks 9 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 On 6/8/2017 at 0:38 AM, Aedi said: You are playing on a FREE PvP server. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. This. Retail WOW at its origin had an amazing community and it was incredibly easy to make friends. Every day you played the game was memorable, so much so that people sacrificed their personal and professional life to play it. Then came the private servers and when you tried them, you just couldn't play on them because the community was just horrendous. The average player was cave-dwelling-born-of-incest-demon, who was just playing the private server version of it because he was too cheap or too young to have access to a credit card. These days retail is nothing like it used to be and the tables have somewhat turned, but there's still that percentage of cave-dwellers out there and Elysium is no exception. Unfortunately, this is as good as it gets today.
An4rki 3 Report post Posted June 28, 2017 Once you have played on the server enough, joined a friendly guild or built up a good friends list - the griefers wont get to you anymore. Ive now got a good 10-12 reliable players to do things with and this makes daily playing so much more fun and amenable.
