Serviceplot 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) Okay so, when I look at Ret pally's back in the day I see all these stigmas like, low damage, not as good tanks as Warriors, and I hear horror story's of the old phrase "Shut up go healer". Am i gonna have a hard time getting in dungeons and raids as Ret? and i have an average skill level player when it comes to PvP, in your opinion does it take over the bar levels of skill to be able to be good at Ret pally or is it more straight forward like Warriors? Kazuma 11 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 They're fun in PvP and definatly an asset. As for raids forget it. Dungeons depends. Low level sure.
Tholren 7 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 I'm sure you'll be able to find a guild that will allow you to play Ret, it may not be an easy finding, though.
Kazuma 11 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 If you really like ret. Do what most succesfull rets did: Join a high end raiding guild as a healer and ask if you can roll on certain items when they're no longer needed. That way you'll have best of both sides.
Mealticket 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 400g in consumes to be remotely competitive. And even then... That's every single raid.

gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) People are against Ret because you have to put a shitfckton of money and effort in, and you still do less DPS than that shitter rogue with blue weapons. Unless your gear is godlike and you have 300g of consumables for every single raid, your guild is just going to give you a Nightfall and tell you to autoattack the boss and dispel / emergency heal. And ofc, people in battlegrounds will cry at you for not healing. Also, ignore Killerduki. He's a fanatical Paladin main that claims Prot paladins should be main tanks and Ret is great DPS, both of which are horribly wrong. Patchi 4 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 Most high end raiding guilds won't bring a ret. Holy paladins offer the same utility and Fury warriors and Rogues just plain outdamage them by a long shot. That being said, I do know a couple guilds that do bring a ret, and they are successful guilds. Just not the top echelon. So if you're looking for competitive server first clear times and boss kills etc, don't go ret. If you're looking to raid casually and have some fun doing what you enjoy, then do just that.

Undertanker 88 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 You'll find a home. Just expect to also bring your MP/5 set to each raid. Some fights require a lot of dispelling, and being able to fill this role on those fights will bring you more versatility and free up a healer to continue to heal rather than having to dispel the entire time. You can collect healing gear that otherwise would be disenchanted and bring that with you as well. A couple fights are not very melee friendly and you can spot heal on those fights as well. - this will help justify a raid spot. 5 mans is no problem. Warm body > nobody 400g in consumables is a bit far fetched, but it is expensive.

Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) You can come play whatever the hell you want in my guild. We'll figure it out as long as you're good folk. Don't expect any server firsts though with my guild as we're primarily well-adjusted, do-as-you-will, tree hugging, clog wearing, granola eating heathens. We're a progressive fishing guild mostly. Corpsemaker 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 If you want to help everyone and have real fun go Holy (You will get geared fast for Main Spec and Off Spec)If you want to kill everything and spend your gold on raids go Retribution (It will not be easy to get items being DPS Melee Two Handed)If you want to feel the power, get really hurt and spend gold on raids go Protection (But be ready to Off Tank, because Warriors can do it much better)Even tho, the most important thing ever is to enjoi the game so... Play whatever you want and have fun!Paladins are Overpower anyway.

Go Holy, get geared and use your Off Spec only when you want to go hardcore. You will have enough chance to collect Off Spec items. Justicegood254 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 I am going to probably go ret and holy. I will get geared for both. Leveling i will have dps str gear and cloth int for healing dead mines or something. At raiding i hope to join an open minded conscious guild that will let me raid as healing and someway (somehow) get some decent dps gear for ret. I also thought about protection but protection doesn't have a tuant, but would still be fun to pvp as a tank. Any ways i love ret because they can do damage, drop some heals, and offer utility buffs, healing, damage, off tank, and lots of useful support. I also like enhancement because they can bring a lot of buffs and damage ...but not for raids. Still i think shamans and paladins are so awesome.
Drain 19 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 Just make yourself a Nightfall and you'll be useful enough. It makes more sense for a Paladin/Shaman to swing this over anyone else. Warriors as DPS tend to go Fury, which is a higher DPS choice than using a 2h. But these others don't have the option.
killerduki 54 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) Lol okay so how do i make enough gold to suite my tastes as a ret pally? You don't have to make "fortune" as many try to preach , they have no clue how Paladins work at very first as PVE Retribution. All you need is Demonic Runes/Major Mana Potion/Repairs/Reagents and Flask. (this is standard nearly for all Classes/Spec) Nothing else matter but always welcome whatever you get with you. /Kind regards Killerduki Edited December 7, 2016 by killerduki
Aisar87 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2016 Just find a more casual guild that isn't as focused on what specs perform best and you will do alright.
