Faith 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 Ah yes, the classical thread where people reply, don't read others' posts and only check the thread to see if they were quoted. Vanilla is all about the journey, I like adventurous journeys. Same reason I like DnD, I think you and I have a very similar goal when playing MMO's. I like the worlds the adventure.. Black Desert was a hard game for me to put down just because the world was so damned gorgeous!!!
Stormhart 12 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 Thanks for the replies so far. Interesting, Interesting. It seems that lots of players really seem to value the community, interaction and building a good reputation. And I can't wait to be part of this.

Enhancement 12 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 - I like slow paced MMO's - I like "working" for my gear - World PvP is the best thing in MMO's, and Vanilla WoW is awesome in this aspect. - No flying mounts and limited instant travel.
Faith 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 It became rather easy for me to put it down once all the pay-to-win elements started showing. I actually put it down just before they showed up.. as the lack of variety in gear and the grindy repetitive end game was a bit lack luster. I had a 53 Sorcerer at the time. I was in the guild Storm Lords. I still log once in a while just to ride around in the game it such a nice looking game. Just beautiful.. and that is an image i just pulled off my twitter so not even the full size pic

Elviss 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 Yah I like uncle but I keep waiting on , even though it's the wrong context... "By MERLIN'S BEARD!!".. Knowing uncle, he'll probably say "By Merlin's pubic hair!!..."
Limitless 6 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 You completely missed the point of an MMO. Also, I really hope I NEVER have the pleasure of grouping with someone who clearly has no imagination whatesoever. You must be pencil pusher of some kind. Consider yourself on my blacklist if that is the name you play under I will never allow you in my group. Cheers ~ Faith ~ Oh noes. Like he cares. I think it's a good thing for him that you blocked him. Keep on clicking your spells and keyboard turning
Stephen 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 You wanted to do SM as alliance, cool, your a rogue, your mate is a warrior, need 2 more dps and a healer, spam /1 and /2 for some crackin chaps to group with. Nice you have your 5 man. Now walk allllllllll the way to the top of the map from southshore. Oh wait, 3 / 5 people have yet to go beyond the wetlands and your healer has yet to get the menethil flight path. So, 2 people fly to southshore, and walk to SM, takes about 15 mins. And 2 people fly to menethil and walk to southshore, which takes about 20 mins. And then those 2 people collect southshore flight path and begin the southshore-SM commute, add another 15 mins to that journey. And your fearless healer! god bless him, is walking from ironforge. Thats like a 40 minute journey. A summoning stone? what the ваууs that. Who plays warlock any way. So all this time, your band of merry adventurers are dipping and diving through horde territory, passing UC/Alterac/WPL/, dodging enemies with unidentifiable levels and horde players just minding their own business until level 35 alliance guys rock on through. Do you see what I am getting at here? Probably not, it sounds awful. It was amazing. A real sense of adventure. Now you just click 1 button, 13 seconds later you have a group of 5 and instantly teleported to the dungeon and nothing needs CC'ing because every one is faceroll. You don't connect with those other 4 people, every one is faceless, you forget them as soon as you kill the last boss and click leave, back to ironforge or what ever the вау city is the best these days. Vanilla and BC you made friends, you had a reputation, you interacted with people, it was fan dabby dozy. If you wanted something, you earned it, and you worked hard for it, you where not instantly greeted with amazing gear and 2 weeks after dinging max level you where decked out with raid quality epics. /rant

Crowley 8 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) WoW lore is absolute фекал. It's a slap in the face, an insult to human intelligence. It's just generic recycled garbage. I absolutely love the Duskwood storyline. Have you done that one, paying attention to the story? I think a lot of stories in books, movies, games, etc all boil down to a lot of the same basic "moral of the story" but I think a lot of the times it's those morals (wrapped in different packages) that we connect with as human beings, and maybe that's why they are used over and over again. I could be completely wrong of course. I love vanilla because the world feels large in comparison to every expansion that blizzard has released since. I love how you are encouraged to be social for better or worse. I love that you have to work at things in order to achieve them. Uncle Ganus of Clan McAnus 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 By Madame Eva's patch of fine loose pubic hair I say !! Papajimboh 12 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Ah yes, the classical thread where people reply, don't read others' posts and only check the thread to see if they were quoted. Vanilla is all about the journey, I like adventurous journeys. Same reason I like DnD, Hey Tholren, I'm quoting you. I was going to say about the same thing about D&D. That's why people liked that game. You sit down with a group of friends, and you have an adventure. Sometimes you may not finish it, but you know it'll be there waiting next time. That's why MMORPGs were so awesome to begin with. Whether you played Everquest, or started in Vanilla WoW or even later, it took that fantasy that was previously in your head and allowed you to play it out in real time with something you could physically control and watch. soulzek 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 Because progression meant something and it wasn't instant gratification. Dungeons were balanced just enough where you had to try but wouldn't wipe every single time. Yes, I miss the QoL features like mass looting and talent respecs. But modern WoW has no goals or rewards. Everything is just handed to you with a gold star telling you that you're special.
Faith 5 Report post Posted December 8, 2016 actually it's my formula for video games.. Amount of Effort Required Satisfaction = difficulty+time; if it took me 4 years to get my degree and it was fairly hard my level of satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 10 could be something like 5. If it took me 10 years and I had to study super hard then.. the amount of satisfaction I feel from getting my degree would probably be like a 10. Same goes for video games.
