Mesh's resignation

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Since my joining Elysium in September, I have been unemployed. I decided to allow myself to take this time to “relax” and enjoy working on a project of my choosing. But since my savings are running low and starvation is at the bottom of my list of enjoyable activities, it is about time I get back to work.

As a consequence, I will no longer be able to dedicate the time I currently do (around 70h+ per week) and maintain a healthy social life at the same time. As I don’t want to sacrifice my social life over Elysium, I took the hard choice to leave the project. As I am not the type of person to give something half effort, I feel it is best to leave instead of hold back the rest of the team with my lack of availability. I will still be around for a few more days to make a smooth transition of my activities.

Looking back, it’s been a long ride since the old Elysium and the bolstering of our team’s ranks. There were, and will continue to be hiccups as time goes by because we are still learning and creating new processes to address external and internal issues. The challenge to keep things rolling has been an incredible experience, and I have learned many valuable skills and life lessons. It is a part of my life that I will not forget and wish the best to the team in the future.

As a goodbye note, I would like to reinforce the last point we made during our response to Nostalrius. Before I started to get involved in the scene from an internal standpoint, I was a player. Playing on these servers provided the best social experiences within a game I have ever had. Through my adventures, I made a lot of friends I still play with years later and tonight I will spend my evening with two of them that were previously my rivals, yet here we are 4 years later.

We are an incredible community with so much positivity, and yet it is so easily tainted. Social media can be used to promote projects, meet and make new friends, and discuss all aspects of the game. But it only takes a few negative individuals to tear it all down and destroy how our community is perceived. Elysium will step up their game in this regard and in departure, I ask you to stay strong and to not let the negative minority unduly influence you.

Show the world the wonderful community that we are.

Regards,

Mesh

Enjoy regaining your social life and I hope you have luck finding a new job. Maybe one day you will be able to balance everything out and be able to come back. If not, I wish you the best!

We all appreciate a work of everyone who makes it possible or us to experience WoW as it was. More than that, we can do it for free. Hope you will be happy with more freetime and a job. I have one myself, so I can play for max. 2-3 hours per day, and more often I play only one. 70h+ in a week for a work with so many ungrateful and lame people out there was hard, I can bet.
Regards :)

Basically all of the devs are quitting lol...

No wonder the tons of bugs that have resulted from this latest patch haven't been fixed, or at least there hasn't been a patch rollback: There are no more developers left.

Guess you can add fenrir to the list, his reddit page has been deleted.

Something weird happened 1 week ago that all of sudden so many people decided to quit.

The mass exodus of former nostalrius staffers began to happen after Viper and Daemon pulled their support from this project.  Seems like most if not all of them are now no longer part of the project. Not a good sign.

One of the worst losses IMO was Stryg, he was an actual dev from nost who came over. I believe he was helping Daemon with the clustering tech before old nost shut down. Thats a big time loss. And fenrir was Nano's right hand man (according to nano) So another big loss IMO. And as you pointed out, even our beloved pottu is MIA.

Think he has it already, just won't have time to balance a job, gaming, working on this project AND social life once he goes back to work.

Thanks Mesh, all your work here made a difference.

Not really shocking news, if you think about it.

My guess?   They decided to cower up the truth, and the concience of quite a few of the members, wouldn't stand for this.

So much is happening right now that it has begun affecting both population AND Staff.

The skies are starting to show clouds.

Is it really so? It stands between 70+ hours a week and absolutely nothing? You're obviously leaving something out from us.

You should understand that you're tearing your own credibility down with this exile of high rank staff members following Nostalrius' announcement. Showcasing for us all that you've just hired one of the hackers involved in the recent havoc wasn't the best publicity either.

A good start for you to build up your credibility for us skeptics would be to answer our questions regarding your announcements. So far not a single one has been answered in any of these threads.

I thank you for your devotion.
