What happened ? step by step

I am going to list step by step what occured in a very short version and give the answer the project should have made use of from day 1 although now it is too late and their weakness has been exposed it does not mean the server dies today or tomorrow or in 2018 but that it will die smeday due to the snowball effect set in motion by the wrong actions when things where dire.

1. Community found a GM abusing power and deleting logs

2. Team dispersed and lead refused to communicate

3. Shenna cracked under stress and posted something labeled transparancy but it only contained an angry rant and was deleted 3 days later, it can still be found as this is the internet so trying to cover up a mess isnt possible, here it is: www.reddit.com/r/ElysiumProject/comments/5veroa/you_want_transparency_here_it_is/

4. They recruited new developers and promoted another lead developer and the 1st stepped down and the one supposed to step up had lost hope in the project due to corruption and doubt from the community.

5. Sheep follow and Wolf's sit around the campfire with popcorn watching the carnage go down

6. The project goes on unknowing of how much damage this remaining doubt from the drama will harm them

7. most likely some servers or players will use this corruption drama for some youtube's or reddit posts to slowly increase the doubt of corruption as it was handled rather poorly with many loose ends to poke at.

 

0. What should have transpired ?

First the team leader should have made an emotion neutral statement followed by a 3 step solution to the current situation being first they take down the server for a couple hours while cloning the log disc, replace the disc and start a thorough scan on the old log disc in order to recover lost data and last but not least claim you found the logs and reverted & banned those connected claiming you found a whole network of goldsellers through this blunder and to keep it more accurate you contact the gold sellers and making a deal below the table causing them to set up the price on their servers for X amount of months. This is then used by the server to claim they dealt a blow to goldsellers although in reality they merely made a trade deal beneficial for both and hidden from the community by only allowing 1-2 of the team to know of this.

 

Yes it is dark and underhanded but at that point the only method at which you could disperse the doubt created from corruption which is odd but that is the only way. If you need proof simply create some legit looking logs and screenshot some of them thus making any investigation from players futile. Sadly they did not do this and thus sealed its own future even tho it might live for 1-2 years it will eventually die due to the snowball effect of doubt created during this drama.

when did i ever say it would die soon ? never... i said it will suffer from the snowball effect which through "time" will kill it and i estimated 1-2 years which is a long time... why are sheep so illeterate that they reply before reading ?... its like being a teacher asking what "2+2" is and the student answers "the moon"... please return to school and come back once you learned to read/listen...

additionally i gave a solution that is commonly used when corruption is exposed and explained how to do it for a poorly managed server like this...

Not going to use names as i am not advertising but fact is something better is around and it is not really hard to find, the only diff is that server is medium pop while this one is high pop. 90% of the pop does not know is true but that is why i call it snowball effect and that other players or servers will highlight this on youtubes and streams over the next weeks/months.

As mentioned in this post - the past drama will not kill these servers.  The population is way too high for that to happen.

But not correcting the posted bugs.  Not releasing content on time.  And when patches FINALLY do come out - it is untested and most often create several other bugs, than what was fixed, this will make people reconsider if they have the "patience" for these servers.

The Elysium Servers will be online for quite some time.   Whether we will keep seeing the population drop - is entirely up to the staff.

in comparison to nost, Elysium seems a bit unprofessional right now, but lets not forget nost bailed out and sold their souls to Blizzard.

I played years on Feenix with a max. Pop of 2.5 or 3.5k at one time. This was considered the "best" and most populated Server out there even though you could donate for full Tier 2, could vote and shop blue items, could message GM's to buy legendarys for a few hundred bucks and GM Gold Floating around so you had buyers in Gold dkp who payed 40k Gold on a Nef Tear.

Still this Server was played on because it was the only Option, and my god i didnt care. Private Servers always have something shady, thats why they are illegal in the first place.

TL;DR - Nost Admins were a phenomenon and on the other side pussied out afterwards, embrace what we got, and dont stir up Drama. Or just stop playing, we still have fun here.

Edit: Lets not forget Feenix also was 12x Exp Server so even further away from Blizzlike, let alone progressive Patches!!! omg

Take a look at these forums, there are a handful of people who post over and over and over.  The vast majority of players don't bother coming here, they just play the game.  You can repost all this crap over and over, but the bottom line is, the only people who might be remotely put off by all this stuff are some of the handful of players that bother to even come here.

I read it all, but essentially I enjoy the game, none of it has affected me or what I do in-game, so it's meaningless to me, and likely thousands and thousands of other players.  People can spout all the 'Elysium is dying' stuff, but there are still huge numbers of people logging in and playing.  Very few people really care about any of this.

That is partially true is yes they closed due to it but there was a bit more to it than that as blizzard was just the final nail, Elysium could in fact have ignored it due to www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/48/section/50A & www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1999/2083/regulation/5/made. You might argue that these are UK laws and Nostalrius was located in France however if you lookup the rules in france they are almost identical to these although the wording is slightly different in favor to the consumer so Nost had the opportunity to ignore blizzards first message if they had sent one more it would be more reasonable as that would signal blizzard being ready to pay to take them down rather than bluff them down.

They closed due to blizzards mail however the server had internal issues originating from the release as they had no logs and duping existed the first 7 weeks making some people extremely wealthy and untraceable similar to the ppl who had contact to the Elysium corrupt GM who deleted logs which he should not have been granted access to in the first place.

 

So yes Elysium is inexperience but who can blame that ? they hardly just began the sad part is they had a leader unfamiliar with online politics... yes it sounds big but it basically means controlling the flow and remaining neutral while you manipulate others a skill required commonly by community managers which he did not have however they had a great advertiser as the population reflects but as stated earlier if corruption is dug up by community and not handled by the core or team then it will breed doubt something which could have been killed off with under the table shady deals like pay the gold sellers to temp set up their prices extremely and then claim that the corrupt GM was either a spy to catch a lot of gold sellers and their network or you could claim you took a 7 layer scan of the log disc and found the old logs he deleted and reversed his actions.

 

However as they where inexperienced or unproffesional they took the childish defensive stance asking for pity and giving in to emotion while the lead locked himself away for a few days due to emotions which is wrong by no means do not misunderstand but fact is fact and the project is young and they commited the same mistakes Nostalrius did thus the economy is in tatters and there are multiple gold seller banks stored on multiple accounts like they usually do with their web but to preserve the server they will not set down prices right away as that would only make the gold they have less worth and risk the servers extinction before they have earned enough from it.

 

Yes what i said where harsh words but i also gave them some decent credit here and there especially for advertisement problem is they bit of more than they could chew and swallowed rather than tasting thus consuming corruption which does not always end with the seedling being removed and they will not die either at least not right away and only 5-10% know of it but slowly more and more will learn of it and the snowball began the moment the team failed at catching it before it began rolling creating what we know as "doubt" but who know how large that needs to grow before it becomes lethal or even harmful...

Say what you want but fact is you are part of that handful and the reason is you care similar to others which is why people use forums, sadly some try to be attention whoring telling others they are wrong or that they should not use forums like you but bottom line is you come here to learn/read/communicate and get some attention by telling the flow its wrong.

@mr. knowitall I come here looking for useful information, instead I see a handful of whiners complaining about shit that most of us couldn't care less about.  The only thing that matters to me is the servers are up and I can play with my friends.  It seems to me, these are the things the vast majority of  the players care about. Certainly not all the playground BS perpetuated by a handful of sad individuals.
