So I rolled horde on the last stress-test here today.  And from the second I was in game to the second the test was over I saw a lot of unnecessary hate.  It all seemed to be focused one player/streamer in particular. (I know most of you probably know who that player is).  I have to admit, I've been vocal on forums about how I'm not particularly a fan of theirs, but today was a real eye-opener for me.  Under NO circumstances should a person have to endure such unrelenting negativity focused at them.  It made me instantly regret my own behavior on the forums. We all have our issues and obstacles in life, coming to play a game, or making videos or streaming games for an escape should not be one of those obstacles.  It's only a game, we shouldn't attack a person for how they choose to play it.  Even with thick skin some of the things said can really have an effect on someone, it has to enter the psyche on some level. 

I felt ashamed as I sat there and watched the chat and I don't know why it took this to reinforce what should I should have acted on all along, and that's positivty and accceptance.  (Again this is only a game, why try to intentionally hurt someone's feelings?)

To the player I'm talking about, I genuinely apologize for being an попа.

Anyways, with that I'll get off my soapbox.

Its the internet and its a free game man.  Just find the people who are not assholes and help/be kind to them. The rest of the pop just ignore.  It sucks and will be a bit of a shock to new players but they too will adjust.

I understand the atmosphere we are dealing with and I don't expect anything I say or do to have any real significance on anything at all but  I do plan on taking a more positive approach on this server in-game, and if the positivity spreads to even one more player I'll consider it a win.

When Nost first started, there was so much venom on forums and in world chat.  A lot of these people don't last more than a week once they realize they have to make relationships.  These are just internet trolls.  Only the hardest of hardcore trolls will be left after a month and they're laughable.  Don't worry my friend.  It'll all be ok.

Well, believe me that (if we are talking about the same person) this guy needs the attention. And regarding publicity there is no bad attention. He enjoys donations and he seems happy to endure anything for these donations. 

 

You are right, though. And btw, people play Vanilla for its community. I am not optimistic about it on this server.

Old Nost was pretty toxic.  It gets worse when the WoW addiction and competitiveness take hold.  No need to get into specific examples.  I am hoping that this time we'll be more appreciative of what the GMs and devs are providing us and it'll turn into a comforting refuge one can escape to after work.  If that doesn't happen, that's okay too, as long as we have blizz-like vanilla of Nost quality!

Ya some of it was funny.  But it was hard to get anything useful out of a lot of threads....between all the tags, signatures, edgy screen shots and one sentence statements that pretty much looked like this:  "LOL U FRAKTARD DIE LOL".  Weren't dealing with a roomfull of rocket scientists for sure. 

 

It all came around.  It will here too.  Honestly it's already 10x better.

There is at least 10% of population on every private server that behaves really rude (in some cases, rude is even understatement). But it is what it is, neither of us can change that. I suggest you get some of those "improved ignore list" addons.

Yeah those people eventually get themselves banned, and sit on ignore list. With high pop, the list can get full and would clear it out every few months.

Proven by what ? "Infinite mana"  , nice one because there is no "infinite mana" in Game so the proof was based on "words" ignoring facts and numbers.

 

But yeah we saw who is the joke in Nost  forums "the CF legionaries", who got rekt by evidence and monolithic s.hit posters around you talking about Spriests today .
