Why are retail players so angry about this server?

Recommended Posts

You went to the official forums. There's your problem.

They are always crying and whining and doomsaying about one thing or another. That's just what they do.

Myself, I play retail and vanilla because I don't see why I should limit myself to only one. /shrug

You mean, unlike these (and anything else game related) forums?

It's the age of entitlement and disgruntlement - people will rage and whine over pretty much anything, despite the fact that it doesn't affect them.

it really does seem like the most mature people on these forums are rolling PvE.... ^ :P

By the Laughing Sister's empty saddlebags, I say !! You call them mature but some evil person might call 'em spineless !! As my unsung forum hero Farthalone once said: getting ganked builds your character and I would add that it grows some spine & balls as well !!! Nothing like a good brawl to prepare you for the harsh life out there ! By the hundred dwarven spines , I say !!!

Well spoken, couldn't agree more, uncle.

On topic, it's just because of fear and ignorance that people can become so rude. Fear of private WoW overtaking the фекал retail... For some reason ? I mean, it's not like the vanilla crowd is bigger than the retail one atm. And ignorance, because you must be pretty blind and ignorant to not ask yourself why people would want to play on an older version of the "same" game.

Also, it all depends at where you're looking, peeps. Don't be surprise to run across a circlejerk of entitled imbeciles blindly licking Blizzard's ball because they feel pride in "Being fan of the game for THAT long" or something, if you go on MMO Champion (blergh) or WoW official forums. The only place where private servers aren't universally hated is on the WoW subreddit run by carebears.

At least they don't come hate on us here, right ?

Back when I played retail WoW, in Cataclysm I used to be an MVP on the official forums. They are honestly just full of cancer. Awful place. Everyone acts so entitled, and when someone shares something they don't agree with, they'll go out of their way to be angry about it.

This. Although I've hit that point in retail where I'm on the verge of un subbing. It's fun while it's new but gets stale very quickly. Back to full nost when it launches I think.

Because they are crybabies, remember those people in vanilla/tbc/wrath that cried that the game is "too hard"? They are the only ones that are still playing retail and are on the forums.

There are bad, argumentative and stupid people in both communities. It may seem like retail players are worse, but just keep in mind there is a bigger population over there, hence you'll get more people like that.

In the end, people have different play styles. Some people swear by PvP, some people simply don't enjoy it, some people swear by Vanilla, some people swear by Legion. Live and let live, people play how they want to play. That is, until it ruins MY gameplay, then that's where I draw the line.

that forum....... was hard to read :/ LOL

well, if they are afraid of WoW dying their fears are quite warranted. it is dying tbh :P sub numbers basically demonstrate this.

Can you post a link please showing that? Start with Legion.

Idk if we can say that WoW is dying, more like on life support, there's probably a couple xpacs on the road but the fact that they won't show the sub numbers anymore speaks for itself.

I'm rolling PvE because I spent the first half of my time in retail on PvP. I was only able to drag my overgrown balls around because my spine had grown with it. :P

Why people are ever hateful? They're afraid.

They're afraid that people are leaving wow, and wow is dying.

Also this partly. People don't want to think about their game dying on them. The funny thing is, a lot of those who are salty would probably actually enjoy Vanilla. :)

Another portion of the population hates private servers because they simply hate anyone enjoying something they aren't. If they dislike a song on the radio, anyone who likes it is an idiot and "doesn't know what music is." We all know that guy. Yeah you, Dan. >:|

Retail players would rather blame private servers and the people who play them, rather than blame blizzard. Truth is blizzard has ignored a lot of the issues that have been there for years which has made people quit their game. The legacy server discussion has been around for years now, maybe prior to cata, but defintly established from there after.

The lack of an open world interaction between players, the lack of world pvp (in part due to flying mounts), the queing systems for dungeons and raids, the lack of a community, the lack of an economy, the free items for no effort, all problems that didn't exist in vanilla, were never corrected by blizzard. Thus why there are people that wish to play vanilla instead of retail, aside from the nostalgic factor, it was a time when the game felt like a world of warcraft.

Retail players made the game awful. That's why. Entitled kids who wants every thing the easiest way possible.

Anyone who still believes in this doesn't know anything about business or retail players, but mainly business. I know many retail players who are quite competitive and, unlike what most people think, mythic does have some challenge to it. The problem mostly lies with the game mechanics being so different now that it is almost a different game entirely.

I honestly think that Blizz should have started on the next big MMO when they rolled out WoD.  Should have just stopped with WoW already.  It's become too unwieldy and there's no fixing it.  I know everyone thinks there's no money in MMO's, but for chrissake there's all these people still playing 'em that are willing to pay subscriptions every month.  They should just relegate WoW to their own progressive legacy servers and start a new game.

Something based on all the "good stuff" they have learned over the years.  Something immersive, lore-based, and socially oriented.  I believe there are ways to balance casual game play with hardcore.  There are ways to balance pvp with pve in the same world.  There are even ways to, geographically and through lore,  encorporate unintentional RP on a large scale.

oh, and...

To me, the reason why my little pic there and uncle ganuses is important is: people have a strong tendency to want to associate and seek order in their world.  This is something that was never really exploited by WoW.

i agree, the TBC model was pretty damn perfect, and wrath would have been an even better expansion under the TBC model.

Blizzards first slip into the darkness was LFG que, even tho it didnt summon you at first, it began the slippery slope into shittiness we all know.

I disagree. LFG would have been fine if it didn't come equipped with HEIRLOOMS.

Flying mounts, LFG and cross realm destroyed any semblance of community.

I think a good system to help people find groups is important, however, WoWs system and the "queue" system is terrible. I loved FFXIV Party Finder system, which is the same type of system WoW has now for mythic+ groups, something like that is most certainly very useful because it keeps it within the community and still makes it so you have to actively look for a group.

but you LFG takes out a social aspect of the game, you just hit a button, get into a group and fly to the dungeon.

before LFG you at least had to say "inv" lol, an MMO isnt an MMO without community, and a community is nothing if the people in the community don't interact

I disagree with one thing here. And it's the implication, that both parties are mad for a reason. Since when do peopl  need a reason to be mad at and ridicule each other? You just have to like such kind of activity. Or the ego boost that you get from it.

The legacy server discussion has been around for years now, maybe prior to cata, but defintly established from there after.

I've been playing retail for a short time at the end of TBC and the discourse was already there. At least on the russian retail forums. I remember it so well because that's the reason why I've started a classic guild there. Cata just basically killed classic content and thus became a cala-lyst for it's revival.

I bet, the idea was there since the day TBC was announced, just not so many people were listening. Personaly, I'm glad, that it's much more popular now - hopefully some day we will even see more people not being elitists about that either ;)
