Anon redditor hacks into gold selling sites, displays information of all gold buyers.

The dodgykebaab reveal is even funnier when you consider he was defending gold buyers in another thread a week ago.

why does everyone think banning VPN's is going to solve this problem?

It's not.

Look at Australia.  Look at Australian Netflix, which is like US netflix but all the content has been split up and divided among 4 different streaming services each with a price tag of $10-30 per month.   Netflix ban's proxy's and VPN's and if it detects you using one blocks you out entirely until you turn it off - to stop us from accessing all the content we wish via US Netflix.

We circumvent it.  Easily.

Every. Single. Time.

It's stupidly fucking easy to circumvent.

Yet you all constantly cry "BAN THE VPN'S!!!"  like it will actually stop them.

you naive fools.

It wont do shit.

I don't think serious perma-bans are necessary. This individual managed to comprimise a gold selling website and leaked out numerous individuals who used Credit Card information to buy the Gold. Which raises the red flag for me, because... If they can access these websites information of WHOM bought the gold, then they can most likely access your bank account information. I would keep an eye on them and change your account/passwords because people like this aren't to be trusted.

Nice try, blooper. That guy is a man of the people. The sort of guy you send BTC to.

He plays it cool, like it's no big deal, but I know a man who's tired of gold spam when I see him.

Let me preface this by stating I have not purchased gold, nor have I the intention to.

This is the laziest, most incorrect, and ваууed up way to go about this.

Gold sellers will always exist, gold buyers will always exist.  Account sales & power leveling will always exist.

Why?: Because some people have more money than they do inclination or time.

I've been playing WoW since the beginning.  I played FFXI since the beginning (ending at Abyssea).  I played FFXIV since 1.0.

All of these games have massive gold/gil/item/power leveling sales.  Both private (player to player transactions) and chinese industrial.

Top guilds and players in every game have one thing in common: They bought gold, botted, and used exploits. If you think it didn't happen, then you're looking at the world of MMORPGs through rose-tinted glasses or you were never a part of those communities.

You will NEVER eliminate these sales because if there IS an easier way to accomplish something, people WILL use it. That's how real life works.

All you youtubers and streamers are attempting to make money off this server and it's inhabitants.  How is that literally any different? Let me guess, because you're not "cheating" by buying gold.  Maybe it was cheating for your parents to give you money, a home, probably a car, and in some extreme cases, large amounts of money and an upper class lifestyle.

The fact is this person committed a felony class offense to leak personal information. If that's acceptable to you, then maybe your home should be broken into.  Maybe someone should steal your SSN, drivers license number, credit cards, your money and put them on the internet. Because, you know, felonies and theft of personal information is OK.

This is NOT ok. The eerily stupid fact is I know that I'm in the minority thinking that hacking and releasing personal information is not ok. Every person on that list can be tracked down IN REAL LIFE.  The potential for PHYSICAL HARM to come to them is extremely elevated now. Should these people be physically harmed or harassed because they wanted to fast track buying a mount in a video game? вау NO

I won't be replying to troll comments because this is not a discussion, it's a hope that at least a few of you will understand the severity of this action and agree that it's not alright for this to happen.

Okay, Shozo.  How would you go about reducing gold selling as drastically as possible, if you don't like extreme, vigilante measures?

I agree it would be an absurd for physical harm to come to these people.

But a little catastrophe in the form of having to cancel their credit card?  I think maybe they've got some frustration coming, considering the amount of frustration they cause all of us, and the sheer lack of respect they have for people who like to play fair.

That's what it's about, to me.  I'm tired of having to endure the consequences of other people's short-sighted selfishness.  I'm not alone.  Most of us want punishment of some kind on this people.  We want them gone - out of our hobby.

Again, I agree physical harm is unconscionable.  Unacceptable.  But you don't see any of us sharpening pitchforks. What makes you think physical harm is a remotely likely outcome, considering the actual data in the dumps?

But we can sure as hell slow them down and reduce them in number.

the fact that you think people are going to track down gold buyers IRL, travel long distances to their homes and "physically harm" them over a videogame is fucking hilarious

I bet the people who have spent $100+ on buying gold for Nost will love it when those accounts are perm-banned. Unless they were smart enough to have those accounts only to get the money on, which would be the smart thing. But not everyone is smart.

Doesn't work. GMs can look at logs of every single action you make. They would see you trading the gold to another character on another account, and ban that account as well.

That's why gold seller bans tend to come in waves: They ban the gold sellers, and ban anyone who conducted trade with the gold sellers.

There was some discussion about the morale and ethics of this here is my answer. These players who buy gold are indirectly responsible for the hacks of innocent players who's info is also floating around the internet. What are the difference between Gold Buyers and innocent players who got hacked (stupid if they use same pw and account name but still innocent). The Gold buyers knew they are doing some business in sketchy sites, breaking the ToS and supporting gold farming industry for their selfish reasons. These player's who got hacked and revealed are responsible for the gold whisper spam, hacked accounts they are reason our guildmate got all his gear vendored all his gold stolen so he quit the game.

As i feel the personal info should be maybe hidden but i hope these gold buying scumbags will never return to this or any other server.

PS. Don't buy gold just git gud in this game instead.

You're aware that IPs change right?

So we should just flat-out ban China and the VPNs then.

I agree with you , PERSONAL INFORMATIONS should never bee released in PUBLIC ,send the file to Elysium admin and let them do the job.

Remember that WE ALL PLAY ON A ILLEGAL SERVER, imagine if Blizz one day hacks into Elysium and released all your personal e-mail IN PUBLIC , would you be happy ?

I'm against gold sellers , but I think this guy hacksforharambe is just a kid that wants be popular and don't give a fuck about people's privacy.

Now that the news it's all over the net don't be surprised if the server will be shut down soon thanks to this kid.
