Hello Dear Community and Elysium Team,

before I start I want to make some things clear.

1. I'm not the usual flamer on this forums. In fact I'm an old Nostalrius player who freaked out when I heard that Elysium will provide us a server with our old toons.

2. I've created a new account so I won't get flamed on my main forum account (I'm very active on the forums).

3. I just want the best for the Elysium Staff and us. I don't want to harm anyone in any way.

If you're not into discussions and if you can not stand other peoples opinions, please don't waste our time.

Ok so let's get started.

Elysium provides us a good running vanilla server. The stability is far over average and the population is huge. Sadly the last months were quite hard for the Staff. Rumors, Drama and facts made a lot people leaving the server and with that guilds broke apart and with that more people left. Sure I know, a huge impact on the decreasing population is clearly the fact that the hype is over but what I said before is still real.

People lost faith in the Staff. I lost faith in the staff.  Though I know there are people working on the servers who are amazing. They're spending their freetime so we can have a better one with the game we love. That is something I cant apreciate enough - Thanks! It must be hard for them to keep up the work on a server that's reputation got injured so hard. Thanks that you still do. But still - even if I consider what I said before - I lost faith somehow. Things became so freaking shady. What you read on this forums is the opposite of what you read on the reddit. You don't know what you should believe and what not.

When Nostalrius wanted their code back for example. How could the staff think we can believe what they are saying regarding their own core they developed next to the current one. There is a lot more as you all know but I don't want this shitfest come back to our forums.

What I want to say is that I was a supporter of Nostalrius and I was a supporter of elysium. I've donated, I've followed every step and I like to inform myself on whats going on. I still do. And with all that stuff that happened I can not ignore the impact it has on the playerbase. Why? Because I'm the leader of a big guild on one of the realms here and my Officers and I are fighting against something we can not longer stand. Our members are leaving the servers because they feel the same way I do. We have to merge with other guilds to keep things going and as everybody who ever experienced a merge knows - this is shit! A (guild)merge almost never works out. Especially if you are forced to do it - not because you wanted to do it.

That's the point for me why I cant just say "Fuck it I leave as well". I have my guild here and the people I became friends with trough the last months. It's the guild why I'm still here. Some may say it's my problem and they may be right, BUT I'm pretty sure I'm not the only leader on elysium who's guild suffered from all this bullshit that happened.

I wish the staff knows that and If not that they will react to that. The shady things that happened are bullshit, but if they would admit what happens in public things would'nt go crazy. Because it's the freaking rumors. People can not ignore stuff like "gold selling, account selling" and all that. You guys came to a point - and I'm pretty sure that it's not only my feelings - where the community is playing here because there is no real alternative.

So what could you guys do to get out of that? The answer is easy, but the solution itself is not.

Give the people hope for the future of the server.

How? I don't know. That's what I mean... The solution itself is freaking hard.

Even if I know you guys are on your limits already, maybe try to give us hope for Burning Crusade. All the LGN Stuff that forced us to believe it will never happen on elysium is bullshit. You could try to get in contact with one of the other huge Burning Crusade projects to give the project a longterm goal. That's what we players need.

Remember what you guys said:

Respecting core values

You may be wondering why Nostalrius chose Elysium to have the first priority with the software. This has largely been answered in the announcement from Nostalrius (http://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44550). To re-hash their points, both of our servers have many of the same moral values:

Provide the players with the best server possible,

Project born purely from a love of the game,

An absolute refusal to profit from it.

On behalf of the Elysium team, we cannot hope to fully express our gratitude for this opportunity. We promise the Nostalrius team and the community, that we will not let you down.

https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/22768-the-birth-of-legacy-nostalrius-returns/

Nostalrius handed us the torch, we have no intention of putting it out.

https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/32701-our-official-response-to-nostalrius-—-elysium-will-prevail/

I don't cry for Burning Crusade or so - don't get me wrong. It's just an idea. What I ask for is hope for the future.

Their server they do what they want.

Never understood the drama thingy. If staff decides to give x guild full t2. Who cares? You wouldnt even find out. You will have to keep playing anyway

Think about what you are asking ...

A small team of private developers like Elysuim could never release content fast enough to keep most people interested long term. People aren’t leaving because of the drama, nobody cares about that any more.  They are leaving because they are bored, lack of new content etc...

Even if what you are suggesting was possble and they did manage to release TBC, how long before people clear it all and then want WOTLK?  ..and so on.

Devs here operate in their free time, what you are asking for is impossible.

Many people I'm talking to are leaving because of all the shit happens. As I mentioned before by far not all of them though.

I know that it's hard but not impossible in my opinion. A cooperation in that regard would be good I guess. Running such a huge server isnt easy and never will be.

I would like a Diablo II system.

1 "nonladder" realm (for example Anathema) and 1 "ladder" realm (for example Elysium).

The nonladder realm does not progress and just stays at the final content patch. The ladder realm progresses through all patches of Elysiums timeline until it stayed ~6 months in 1.11 and then merges with the nonladder realm. A new ladder realm can start then and repeat the progress. That way you could establish seasons of progress for vanilla WoW, so that people could always join and experience the vanilla progress timeline. It would limit the servers and people could keep their stuff on the nonladder realm.

Interesting Idea. Would the progressive realm progress trough Vanilla only?

Why would people leave now because of the drama? I don't get it. These people would have left during the shitstorm deluxe. Why wait until it's calmed down and drama is long gone and half forgotten?

Such a Diablo II system would be interesting for the time when Anathema and Elysium (and Zeth'Kur) finished their progression and not before of course. But it would give the project a system that can stay for decades, without the need to delve into TBC.

The thing is: TBC is a huge increase in expense regarding developement work. It also divides the community of this project, depending on the implementation. And personally, I think Elysium should focus on what they are best at: Providing a blizzlike classic WoW experience.

I also agree with the other posters. The drama is over and this project is in a great shape. Going open source is a huge boon for the whole classic community and ensures that the project developes into a long-lasting plattform for classic WoW developement.

Sure, population is still decreasing. But I don't see the correlation between drama and population. That was the case at some point but now people are just leaving the hype train, enjoy spring, play BOTW, play other games, etc... The big influx of players came during the Nostalrius relaunch and the interest was created before by press and media during their fight against Blizzard after their shutdown. Some people will return when AQ is opened but these raidloggers will disappear again when AQ is out for many months. Same for Naxx.

My Diablo II system suggestion would provide a plattform for people to compete again and again for fastest kills and progression. I read that speedruns are a thing, why not seasons of progression for the Elysium project, too ;)

Instead of opening Topic with concerns of what already happened and what many don't like to continue happening.

Please open Topic where you will give a great ideas of how to fix the problems !

Sometime not everything depend on the project itself , but on the fans and people who love to keep Legacy Movement and Elysium up.

The only winner from this is either Blizzard or Legacy Movement , one of them , depend on the people only.

If people want Kronos,Crestfall,Hellground or any other openly Shady project who are dare to P2W , then this is fine and victory for Blizzard.

If people want Legacy Movement to continue and to force Blizzard on Legacy Servers,  then Elysium should be back with full support by everyone .

At this moment ,it's up to people choice , nothing project can offer more for them rather than fixing bugs and continue from where they stopped.

/Kind regards Killerduki

What FACTS made you lose faith in the staff?

I really hope you will show some facts backed by evidence... Unless you can do that you are not part of the problem, you are the f-ing problem!

My old guild disbanded and most quit because of the Sheena drama and the deleted logs.  You can't can present that as evidence exactly because the evidence was deleted.  The admins acted very shady and defensive which reflected poorly on the whole project even if it was only one or two people that were untrustworthy.

and the deleted logs

You have presented a claim that logs was deleted. I am not saying you are wrong. I am saying I don't believe you until you can shown sufficient evidence to support that claim.

You are not saying "I believe", "I heard from X" or "my opinion is", you are factually claiming that logs was deleted. Unless you provide evidence for this you are sabotaging and spreading drama and rumors.

That's one REALLY f-ed up comment. Oh did they act DEFENSIVELY when they accused of something serious, impossible to disprove (the burden of proof is on the person making the claim) and that could potentially ruin the whole project? Well they must be guilty then!?!?! Only a guilty person would act DEFENSIVELY. And acting SHADY, oh my, do these anonymous people running an illegal pirate server acting, SHADY? Oh my, they surely are guilty of these claims then! Seriously dude.

So far, YOU, and people like you are the only problem I see here.

Unless you are here to actively sabotaging Elysium then I wonder, what kind of f-ed up idiot are you? Seriously?

There is evidence the logs were deleted.  What was in the logs only the person who deleted them knows what was in them.  This is not some random evidence I or others are presenting, it has been around for quite some time.

As a poker player I get accused of hacking, botting, and all manner of threats but I don't act shady and defensive about it.  I ignore the trolls and refer the others to site's website to report me for cheating since I know I'm not doing anything wrong.

I'm not sabotaging any thing I was just recapping a short period of time in which the admins of this project made some mistakes, made some poor decisions and it reflected poorly on the project as a whole and caused a lot of people I played with to leave this project.  The admins acted shady and defensive because they messed up and did not want to admit it.

I wont bring the drama back into this forums. Just open the reddit and read a little bit.

I dont think the lack of new contents is the major point where the population is decreasing so fast.

During Nostalrius era, it was exactly the opposite that happened. Its started slowly, we were about 2,8k pops to 3,2k at NA evening/nights during the first month of the server life. Then it just increased to a level where it was almost impossible to play before thy shut down. Which was 12k pops online.

It lasted almost 2 years with no new content other than DM and BWL. Still, the population kept growing and growing because it was THE ONLY REALM. Now that there is 4 realms, that some TBC recently released, it is totally normal that the population faded to a very disturbing low...  Add it to the fact that there was drama, a almost 3 days shut down of Anathema (which never happened during Nost era) and you get all the ingredient for a short-lived server...

The true remedy to this is a harsh merge of all 3 pvp servers ASAP. Who cares if Anathema is at the war effort, AQ wont go live before 1 month or 2. There is no point for Elysium/Zek players to farm MC and ZG for months and months still. You already see their pops decreasing at dangerous rate.

And if the team would promise something like nost did (an incoming TBC server with the possibility of our vanilla character to be copied there) people would keep joining.

They already doomed the realm when they decided to split the population THAT MUCH and to state that there will be no TBC content EVER.

At least, if they would add things not really blizzlike but that would keep the people interested, such as ranked arena, an exclusive randomized generated dungeon/raid etc that would keep people interest. But we are dumb, we want a totally blizzlike server to get bored in a few months so we move on to the newest hot wow private server.

/shrug

Edit : And just as personnal fact, I slowed down playing ALOT on anathema, and it wasnt because I was getting bored. but the population fast decrease hit me hard as I got worried about the fact that maybe, i was tryharding and grinding (and spending alot of time) for nothing because the server will be as dead as Zek in a matter of weeks.  Therefore, i just decided to login during our raid times. I minimize the wasted time.  It's a bit sad, but it's true. It's another reason why some very dedicated and passionate player might stop playing on Anathema or Zek.

If I was someone new the forums, and I saw a post like this, it would make me do some research and possibly discover things I did not like (and may or may not be true) about the server administration. This might cause me to tell my friends and guildmates, who in turn might quit, causing another small population decrease.

Personally, I could care less about any of this drama. I am here to play a video game, to escape the reality and drama of my day for a couple hours a day. I do not think I will ever understand how some of this stuff seems to effect people in such a profound way.. but maybe I am just someone who enjoys this video game and is thankful I am able to play here in the first place.

I want to point out that I am not saying your posting this way wrong, but I do not see how it is helpful to the community. I feel like it would have more of a negative effect on a newer populace of players that are unaware there ever was drama OR cause everyone to start putting on their tinfoil hats again for no reason at all. (or you know, continue this whole 'evidence' conversation.)

I don't want to harm anyone as I mentioned in my thread but how could I share my feelings if not in the forums. I've tried to be as neutral as possible in that regard.

Im not here to dig deeper, I want a discussion so we can find a solution. In my opinion the solution is to give the playerbase a long-term goal. It's hard to explain because most of it is just.. feelings and thoughts.
